just watched Tampa come back from a 3-0 deficit to take control of the leafs. I love the leafs but I think they,re done in the first round. I cant see them getting past Tampa in the next 5 years. Both good young teams with lotsof talent.
Really?

That will depend on the salary cap continuing to rise, the Leafs can easily outspend the Lightning on what they need. The Leafs could have won the Stanley Cup during 2000 - 02, Bill Waters bald faced lied when he said the club had a budget. The one defenseman they needed was never dealt for. The money was being used to keep Steve Stavro out of bankruptcy, which he eventually did anyway. A don't expect history to repeat itself with the Shany Regime.

Is there anyway that Leafs will never have to wear that white top jersey ever again? I only watched the 3rd period of last night's game it samed like Anderson was totally confused with the players. I thought it's unfair for Leafs to wear different colors and Lightning wore the same colors. When it comes to the finals, I would like to see the Lightning wear the white and Leafs wear the blue.

Go Leafs Go! No white jersey! Go Blue!

I've never heard "fairness" being referenced in relation to jersey colour. Esthetic preferences or luckier colour maybe, but not fairness. I am sure the players don't give a shit.

Also, it is impossible for the Leafs and Tampa to meet in the finals.

Looks like Matthews's ready to come back after having been out for "about a month or so".
Well, shame on Lance Hornby then!

I did not panic after they blew it in Tampa. The Leafs came back to man handle the best team in the NHL.

The Preds were on an amazing roll, so they were overdue for a loss and the Leafs were in the right place at the right time.:eyebrows:

My last post notwithstanding, I think the Leafs may not be outright favourites but they have as good a chance as anyone during the spring marathon.

As such, I will go on the record now as saying the Leafs will win the cup and I am willing to bet on it. Not only that, but I promise if they do not win, I guarantee that I will renege on any bet I make.

No one can deny that I am a man of conviction.

You mean win the cup this year? I say 2018-2019 season or 2019-2020.

Yeah but many expected the Leafs to sit on the crapper for this game after they blew it in Tampa. Matthews coming back also helped.

I was hoping that emoji would indicate my previous post was not very serious. It takes a very good team effort to beat this Preds team any night.

I agree that they will have a better chance in a year or two but the fact that they were good enough to beat the top two teams in consecutive games, the way they played without #34, and the youth, vigor and speed they have to endure the grind of a playoff run, I think they have as good a chance as any other team. They are young and only getting better as they pick up more experience. When you are young, you play without fear.

For whatever reason I think the Leafs match up well against the Preds. Maybe it is their style of play or confidence.

The Leafs have a record of 12-8-1 (my quick count)against the top two teams in each division, i.e. Tampa, Boston, Washington, Pittsburgh, Nashville, Winnipeg, Vegas and San Jose, but we all know playoffs are different animals than regular season games.

Florida...if they run the table and win all their games they will finish with 101 pts. The Leafs have 97 pts, they only need 5 pts to clinch 3rd in the division. Leafs have a chance to eliminate Florida on Wednesday March 28 when they face Florida at home. The Leafs have won 13 straight at home.

They sucked even worse against Detroit on Saturday. They might have won that one somehow, but they let the Wings have 41 shots on goal and the Leafs looked like the furthest thing from a playoff team.
Not just the Leafs, how about Tampa sucking shit against Arizona.
