The excitement and optimism are overflowing in Leaf Nation so I guess I'll take the honour to start the new season thread. It appears that the starting lineup will look something like the following :
Goal : Andersen, McIlhinney
Defence : Gardiner / Zaitsev
Reilly. / Hainsey
Carrick . / Borgman
Marincin
Forwards : Hyman. Matthews. Nylander
Marner. Bozak. JVR
Marleau. Kadri. Komarov
Martin. Moore. Brown
Fehr. Leivo
This is pretty much what I had expected with the exception of Marincin over Rosen. I'm also interested to see how you guys would rank the Canadian teams in terms of how they'll finish this season. My ranking as follows :
1) Edmonton
2) Winnipeg
3) Toronto
4) Montreal
5) Calgary
6) Ottawa
7) Vancouver
Montreal has Price and Ottawa has Karlsson, either player has the ability to carry their team single handedly but both players seem to have nagging injuries to hinder their performance. Winnipeg has the best balance on defense/offence talent but coaching and goaltending are suspect. The Leafs can put out the best 3 line offence but the defence has to prove that it can compete.
