I am planning for a Stanley Cup parade. The final will be Leafs and Oilers. Maybe and maybe I will see the cup in TO during my life time.

The defense is still not strong enough to make a significant Stanley Cup run, but one objective has been reached. The Leafs now have depth in the talent pool.

He's all but forgotten these days but the credit for the current club must go to Tom Anselmi. He's always been a very tough lawyer. When he came in as interim CEO the Leafs were in an horrific state. He cleaned house, putting Peddie out to pasture and firing Brian Burke. He should have been made permanent but MLSE went with Tim Leiweke instead. The current CEO Michael Freiisdahl is keeping a very low profile and a hands off approach to the clubs.

Anselmi began his career as a sports lawyer and was the project manager for the Skydome. He had a 17 year run as a Board Member of MLSE, he aligned himself with Larry Tannenbaum after Richard Peddie attempted to throw the construction magnate under a bus. He is responsible for bringing Toronto FC into MLS but his position was undermined because they couldn't make the playoffs. Anselmi finally got the CEO position he always wanted - but with the Ottawa Senators.

I'm glad they kept Leivo. I guess they had to because I'm sure he wouldn't have cleared waivers had they sent him down. No surprise Lupul failed his 2nd. physical. What an idiot. Should have just kept his mouth shut.

This is year 2 of the 5 year plan. Even my friends who are fans of other teams are commenting on how good the Leafs are looking.

Can't wait for the puck to drop!

I've only seen one thread discussing about Leafs offseason moves started by smuddan. Offseason is done the real season starts tomorrow in Winnipeg. I won't get too excited about the Leafs season until at least after Xmas.
I like the idea that there is enough potential there that we don't have to write off the season from the get go, as we have had to do for a number of years in the past.

By playoff time they can stack a 4th line by replacing Martin with Leivo if they want. Imagine a 4th line with him and Brown. Get a better 4th line center than Moore next year and ...
