It will be interesting to see who plays where and when. Powell and Wright are on the hot seat because if they don't perform team is in trouble. JV how do they plan to use him or will they try to trade him?

Oh yes, almost forgot,...... will Bruno and/or Lucas play meaningful minutes? If they do, how much trouble are the Raptors in?

JV better show up to camp in the best shape of his life. This season could make or break his career. I think he is humble enough to recognize this and do what it takes to help the team win.

It seems to me that no matter what the Raptors do, the best we can hope for is the team gets into the playoffs and win a round or two, but we'll never be able to beat the super teams and the referees' biases. The feeling of being a second class team sucks as a Raptor fan. Unless James suddenly loses "it", championship is only a pipe dream.

In contrast the NHL has such parity that any team can have a fair shot once in the playoffs and there are no blatant biases in favour of the big market teams, and I wish there were as that would only benefit us.

Guess I've made it obvious that I'm much more excited about the start of the NHL season than the NBA.

I think it will depend on what the younger guys do. Powell, Siakam, Poeltl, and most importantly Wright will have to step up since the raps have less in the way of a bench.

D. Wade joins King James with the Cavs.
Saw him in a Cavs uniform ... Looks weird ... Perfect spot for him ... He has his rings and so to get a chance ( what ever slight ) to play with his best friend again sounds perfect ... He has spurts of greatness but they don't come as often as they used too. Think about all those guys in his draft year who are no longer playing . It is amazing what James keeps doing .

D Wade coming off the bench, plays 5 min. plus, per half, would work for me. In short bursts he will bring a ton of energy with him. He may not be the guy he once was but he still can play, if they keep him fresh, and for just over 2million for the season he is a steal!

I'm a little worried Raps are gonna lose some momentum with the city and the fans. The last 4 years have been the best in franchise history, but it also helps that the Leafs sucked. Now that the Leafs are good, the Raps need to keep winning 50 games to keep fans interested.

This team can't afford injuries to major players, they just aren't as deep as they used to be. Placing a lot of faith in unproven youngsters makes me nervous, though I'm not nervous about more minutes for Powell, that guy is the truth.

Agree about Powell ... Cause of his draft position he is kind of a underdog story but is ready to break out ... Raps don't have many pure scores ... He maybe one 1 of 3 that the Raps have .

Stephen Curry is a very lucky prick, he has the best of both worlds. He plays for an NBA powerhouse and his wife is a chef.

Always good to win even if it's the first. Starters look in form already. Second group had horrible first q but was much better in the second. Not much expected from this but everyone showed a positive moment, even Bruno! Still looks like same offensive sets (though a lot more 3's tried but most in the flow) but noticed subtle change in that what used to be 5-6 passes for a set now they try to get 8-9 in. So there seems to be intent to move ball rather than dribbling ball which will be welcome. Defense was much better in the second half and they were rebounding all game so I hope that continues. Anyway, it begins. Love the shorter pre and less ex games! Let's go Raptors!

Missed the game, looked at the box score, kind of hard to figure out what was where against who. gfe you say Bruno had a positive moment, what was it? Off the box score numbers he looks like he is back to the 905. Raps 3 point average 25%, to me that won't cut it. Numbers for both Wright and Fred V. looked good. Poeltl, played 7 min. and had decent numbers for a short amount of floor time.
