How many 6/49 tickets do you play per draw?

Just wondering as I notice that most of the $1,000,000 extra draw prize goes to a '01- ticket. Of course it's obvious that single tickets are the biggest sellers, so wondering how many you play. Me? 5 lines per draw.

Play $1,000 with no encore anytime the prize goes to $50 million or above. Win a bunch of free tickets and small prize winnings... But when I win the $50 million I will have the biggest orgy ever amongst other things... just imagine!

I think you're talking about the Lotto Max which is 7 numbers and a different draw from the 6/49. The 64/9 almost never gets anywhere close to 50 million.

I said 2. But usually just one or two lines is all I play. I find when you play 3 or 4 lines you often win a free ticket.

But I look at it that you have to be in it to win it but that spending additional money doesn't really have significant returns.

You're right. You'll be invited to that orgy! Good times. Just imagine!

Anything more than one ticket is a waste of money.

A second ticket does not double your chances of winning. It increases them from 1 in 13,983,816 to... TWO in 13,983,816

Imagine an Olympic pool filled with 14 million ping pong balls. And you can increase your chances from one ball to two, or three etc.

Multiple tickets for a 649 or Lottomax draw are a compete waste of money.

You're chances of winning the lottery whether you buy a ticket or not are about the same. (But I still occasionally buy. It gives me a chance to dream)

That is the definition of doubling your chances.

One ticket is usually a waste of money. The only time it actually makes logical sense to buy a ticket is when the prizes are exorbitant. And even if it makes mathematical sense, you have to ask yourself if it's worth buying a ticket with such low odds.
I'll throw in $20 when I see lotto max over $60M or 6/49 over $35M. No encore (fool's game).

Keerect!!! I think what he was trying to get at was something like the odds against aren't cut in half. As you said: Doubling infinitely small is still infinitely small.

    What progress?

You are correct and I was wrong. What I meant to say was that you do not appreciably increase your odds by purchasing any more than one ticket per draw.

One ticket is a waste of money if you do not win. But someone does win. As the saying goes, you have to buy a ticket to win.

So the way I look at it is like this. $3, $5 or $8 a week will have zero effect on my life. $500 a year will have no effect on my life and I can afford to blow it on the extraordinarily long odds that *I* might win a jackpot that would have a huge effect on my life. And I play regardless of whether or not it is a big jackpot or a small one. $5million bucks will make a big difference in my life and still worth the $3, $5 or $8 (both draws) I throw away.

But any more than one ticket per draw is an even bigger waste with a 1 in 28,000,000 chance of me being that "someone" who wins. I hear people say that they don't enter the small draws because WHEN it is their turn to win, they don;t want to waste their win on only a few million bucks! lol! Mind of a gambler.

So your $20 on big draws is better spread over multiple draws than on one draw. IMO.

I agree with you that Encore is a sucker bet. So are those scratch and win crack addict tickets.

What they should do is have more smaller prizes instead of one giant prize but they are worried about the bottom line as a giant prize brings in the suckers

Sad, as a giant prize is often wasted because a fool got it

Whereas several smaller prizes could do wonders for a lot of people but the government is more concerned about the bottom line not the social impact

1 in 13,000,000 vs 2 in 13,000,000. Doesn't 2 in 13,000,000 mean 1 in 6,500,000? Isn't that cutting in half the odds? Admittedly, the odds are still quite large.

I don't always play Encore but it's not necessarily a fool's game. You have better odds of winning but the payout is less. It's also cheaper to get into the game. (The grand prize in Encore is $1,000,000 for odds of 1 in 10,000,000)

Can one play several Encore games with 1 line of another game? If so, 5 bucks of Encore means 1 in 2 million chances to win vs. 1 in 28.6 million chances to win a Lotto Max prize which costs the same (Lotto Max is 5 bucks a line).

I play more than a few games because I also play for a group.

The most I've won is Early Bird Lottario. Can't recall exactly but it was in the range of $400.

I bought 2 tickets last night and hit 5 out of 6 on 6/49

The odds of winning never change, if you buy more tickets you have more chances but still the same odds
