Illegal immigration statistics show Trump’s resolve to keep campaign promise

President Trump has overseen huge increases in arresting illegal immigrants inside the U.S., pushing them through the immigration courts toward deportations and stopping newcomers from entering along the southwestern border, according to statistics released Tuesday.

While the giant border gains reported in the early days of the presidency have diminished, Mr. Trump is still well ahead of the Obama era, with the number of illegal immigrants being snared — a measure of the overall flow — down by 46 percent in July compared with the same period last year.

The immigration courts are also moving faster in ordering deportations, issuing nearly 50,000 removal orders from February through July — up 28 percent compared with the same period last year under President Obama.

Administration officials said the numbers show Mr. Trump has taken the immigration issue seriously, which was one of his most prominent campaign promises.

At the border, the U.S. is on pace for the lowest number of apprehensions in four decades. That number is considered a rough yardstick for the overall flow, meaning a drop in the number of people caught signals a drop in the overall flow of illegal border crossings, officials say

Trump's travel ban is already helping to crater U.S. tourism — and it will cost you

They estimate tourism down by 11%, costing the US probably around $18 billion a year.

$18 billion loss in tourism is a drop in the bucket in the overall economy. I would hope the US government commits much more money than that to improve safety of its citizens.

Anytime Law enforcement tells you victimless crimes are down, what they are really reporting is that they're catching fewer offenders. Which may simply mean the lawbreakers have had to get smarter.

If you were an illegal headed into the US would you buy a Guaranteed Secret Route Map that worked under Obama, and still think it would work under el Presidente Trump?

All the article in the OP really says is that the US authorities say they are catching fewer. And if the Boss ran on a platform of ending illegal immigration, isn't that exactly what they'd want them to tell him?

Duh... Or maybe for the illegal immigrant spending thousands of dollars to paid a smuggler to cross the US border under Obama if get caught you don't get deport ( catch & releases method). But under Trump you get caught you get deport and you out the few thousand dollar you already paid to smuggler! So it not worth to go to cross US border. Now if you decide to come to Canada under Trudeau where he welcome all irregular migrant and you get free welfare ..now that a different stories! It basic economic for the illegal immigrants.. It worth under Obama or under Clinton , but it may not worth fininical risk under Trump.

Interesting contradicting # in that second article:

According to Commerce Department’s Bureau of Economic Analysis, international travel spending in the U.S. is up 0.7% to nearly $78 billion during the first six months of the year. More spending on airfare and lodgings were factors in the slight growth, according to the agency.

In both cases, the time frame is too short to be very meaningful

A wall can take many forms. It appears there is a wall of fear among Mexicans keeping them from attempting to sneak into the US. Add a few more physical barriers and security improves further. Seems all we needed to start the process was a president with balls.

Trouble is there's no way to know is there? Taking LE's boasts — and Trump is LE in Chief — at face value is like believing the guy who tells you wearing garlic keeps vampires away. When you ask for evidence, he says, "I wear it, and I haven't seen any vampires".

No backpedaling here. Your poor comprehension skills are apparent once more. Go back under your rock.
I recall the debates here around how high the wall would be, whether it would be dug into the ground, or whether it would be more like a fence -- you were pretty sure it was going to be a wall.

Now it's just a metaphorical wall?????????

Why do you always resort to lying when you make a false statement? Please show me the post(s) where I discussed the physical characteristics of the wall. I can save you time ..... you can't find it because they don't exist, you are lying again. You are so pathetic.

If illegal immigration is already down, why is Trump wasting so much taxpayer money on this wall?

You and your hero fuji keep crying that no wall is being built, attempting to say Trump is failing to keep his word. Now you find a pathetic new argument. There's no pleasing you alt-left folks. I would explain further but it's obvious not only do you not care, you probably aren't smart enough to understand.

Gee I dunno, maybe try to get it down even further??
Or perhaps because he is the most ill-informed POTUS in history who thinks very complex issues are easy to solve until he actually attempts to solve them. So far he has accomplished nothing of any significance. No major legislation at all with control of both branches. Man this winning is exhausting.
