Stroll is resented in the racing community, it's been speculated that his multi-billionaire father greased the wheels to get him on the F1 circuit. However Lance has competed effectively with an average car, eventually the critics will go silent.

Lawrence Stroll, according to Forbes, is worth $4.2 billion. He's been responsible for marketing high end products to North Americans (Pierra Cardin, Tommy Hilfiger, Hublot), he owns the Circuit Mont Tremblant raceway and has a collection of vintage Ferraris. He currently makes his home in Geneva, Switzerland.

The money may have got him some training and the foot in the door, but unless he can perform, that ends out meaning shit. And so far he has been performing pretty well for an 18 year old rookie.

Exactly ... his father was able to buy him the best coaches available as well as lots of simulator time, but you still have to be able to figure out what to do with all of the info and tools provided. He's done that pretty well so far.

Absolutely.

Lance has been very impressive in his rookie year. And he's doing it with a limited racing team, Maclaren hasn't been a power since their partnership with Honda ended. Considering that his father is a lover of all things Testarossa, it's not beyond the realm of possiblity that he could be partnering Vettel. The first Canadian Ferrari driver has a street named after him in Maranello. Also the current head of Ferrari Scuderia is Canadian: Sergio Marchonne.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Stroll has had only two DNF's this season, that's impressive for a rookie.

Sergio Marchionne replaced Luca di Montezemolo at the end of the 2015 Season.

I did some tracking at his family's track in mont tremblant last year. Alot of people critize him for a rich dad that gave him his opportunity, what they never realize is that while he was a child he was racing, while kids his age were dating, he was on the track, family vacations to the south, he was practicing. The kid has put enough time and dedication and i for one am impressed. Like others have said, he still needs to have the abilities to prove himself and he is. I hope he continues to get better and better

Monza is the second fastest track on the F1 circuit, only Spa Francorchamps is faster. By qualifying second on a rain slicked, and admittedly dangerous track, Stroll has proven beyond doubt that he has the right stuff.

I've seen more races in Monza than in Montreal and I'll probably be there again next year. The only other track I've attended is Zandvoort but I hardly remember it - I was as high as a kite.

Stroll be driving for Ferrari in the near future.

It’s not unusual in today’s F1 for a driver to ‘buy a ride’ with the smaller teams considering the exorbitant cost of running 2 cars. He’s required to get a ‘super license’ in order to compete.

Not just in today's F1, James Hunt came from a wealthy family and bought himself a ride with Hesketh Racing Team. He eventually won the F1 title with Maclaren.

He left us much to soon at 45.

The reality is, that even if you're the best up and coming kid in auto racing, unless you have incredibly deep pockets you're not going to make it very far. Stroll has had the benefit of virtually unlimited resources, which makes all the difference. I would say Canada has many capable drivers who would likely do well in F1, but their dreams will never be realized due to financing alone.

That said, I would say he is a good young talent. I hope he does Canada proud. It's been a long time since we've had a Canadian in F1.
