Acc is now going to be known as Scotiabank Arena starting next summer. They have just signed a 20 year agreement with the bank to be known as Scotiabank Arena. There are so many changes going on in our city that I can not even keep up.
I remember going to the ACC when I was younger to watch hockey & I loved it ; The hot dogs and snacks while watching the game , the drunken fans, the occasional hockey fight , the screaming fans. Even thinking about it brings a smile to my face.

So now the question I ask you is

1.) do you think its a good idea?
2.) What is your favorite memory at the ACC?
3.) Do you think after the twenty years is up they will change the name back to ACC or do you think it will then become something else?

Discuss.,

1) Well Halifax has SB centre.. we have SB theatre already.. so SB arena is left, ACC is now SBA doesn't have that ring to it. So no. Isn't the Platinum area sponsored by TD?

2) The final Rush show. I've seen lots of sports and concerts but this one just sticks in my memory.

3) In 20 years it will be obsolete as a venue. I believe that they will tear down the skydome and rebuild it their then after the move tear down the ACC... or just build more condos and move the venue north. Who knows?

I agree the ACC had more of a ring to it and if we have a Scotiabank theatre already then surely the don't need an arena too ?

The final rush show? Don't think ive ever heard of it... Hopefully they don't tear down the ACC because if they did I would be so sad.

They are changing the name because Scotiabank is throwing $800 million to Maple Leaf Sports for a 20 yr. agreement. Consider that amount of money compared to the measly $4 million a yr. Air Canada was paying. The sad thing is the Leafs will still be the most expensive ticket in the NHL and food and beverage prices will still be sky high even with the hundreds of millions this building pulls in each yr. in sports and concert ticket sales, corporate sponsorships, merchandise, food and beverage, private box leases etc... oh and Leaf tv.

LOL yes I have already mentioned the deal. It is obvious that they are only changing the name because of the money . However there is a huge legacy behind the ACC. I mean think about the raptors. This is where they started. The big deal with the money aspect of this is how much money are they going to bring to the table. What are they going to do for fans as well as the team to make sure that it still has that home feel ?

That $800 million will go to Rogers and Bell. Wonder how BNS shareholders feel about making that payment and what benefit flows from it?

[h=1]"Bell, Rogers now official owners of MLSE"[/h]
