The depends on what Trump does next. Anything short of a military response and he's made Trump look the fool. Trump set himself up for this trap by his bluster. Now he's going to have to go to war, or make the US look weak, all bark and no bite.

Bannon is correct. Seoul is likely to be North Korea’s first target should war break out with the US, and because Kim Jong Un has around 21,500 pieces of artillery lined up on the border between the North and South ready to fire, military analysts estimate that 100,000 people in Seoul would die in the first few days of conflict.
That may be your opinion and I think a correct opinion but Trump explicitly listed threats to Japan in his threat to use force against North Korea. I agree with you that it doesn't make sense, which is why I say North Korea has called his bluff.

Really? Don't claim to have the ear of Xi Jinping, but it is my understanding that China's patience is running thin with North Korea.
It is not that they enjoy the threat of war on the Korean Peninsula, rather they have painted themselves into a corner, they don't relish the idea of a border with a unified Korea friendly with the U.S. (why would it be friendly with the PRC which has propped up North Korea for years), and they also are quite worried about a total collapse of North Korea and a flood of refugees fleeing into Manchuria.
NK isn't an ally of China,...anymore than the US is an ally of China.

Stalin backed Kim as leader of Korea at the end of WW II and Stalin gave his blessing for Kim's forces to invade the South. When the war turned against Kim, the Russians did not back their ally. After a profanity laden telephone exchange between Mao and Stalin, Mao sent in his elite Manchu Divisions. Therefore the toothless bully of the Korean War is Joseph Stalin, he died before the shooting war ended.
But I'm confused, isn't Trump preparing to declare war on Mexico? They are stubbornly refusing to pay for his wall - don't they know better.
