Any ideas? What's the best deal? Unlimited mileage?

Please let me know.

First thing you need to do is confirm the rental company will allow cross border. And yes for that distance unlimited is the only option.

Is it one way? And honestly you will need quite a bit more time to drive there and back and make it worth while.

Personally, I would seriously consider renting a Jeep. I own a 2007 Jeep Liberty, and even though I actually enjoy driving it, it`s been nothing but problems ever since I bought it! First was, a simple, (or so I thought), `check engine` light, ended up costing me about $3200 to rebuild the engine! I`m now dealing with an ABS, traction control system failure, as well as a front end alignment issues...don`t think I`ll by buying another Jeep again anytime in the near future! Just my $.02 worth....

Thanks Malata- looks like a great option!
Most of the online booking sites (expedia, travelocity, etc) will let you compare prices for different rental car companies. You may need to check or drill down more to make sure driving across the border is ok.

None of my business, but why a Jeep all the way from Toronto to Maryland? If you have need of a Jeep, perhaps separate trips, or rent a regular car, for the trip and a Jeep in Maryland?

Paradise by the dashboard light.

Because maybe a Jeep has more head room to hump and bump.

I will give you one example to think twice. I went to Windsor with a brand new Jeep Wrangler 3 mos ago from Markham. One way trip costed me $55 in gas alone. It was fun to drive if not windy but in some windy areas, it was noisy and you can feel all the wind drags.

Like others have asked, why a Jeep? Aerodynamic as a brick, poor fuel economy, noisy tires and rides like a truck (because it is a truck). If I had a choice, I'd rent something that rides better alone. Some of the highways in the US have miles and miles of noisy/bumpy expansion which are annoying in a nice riding car, let alone a Jeep.

But, to each his own...

Owned a brand spanking new loaded Sahara for a short while. Piece of junk. Good Riddance. I'd rather ride a donkey on a long road trip - handling would be better. Thankfully resale was solid.

In a place far, far away

When did you start having the major problems?

If you are looking to do some offroading then its one thing but Jeep is not good for long drives also has very poor safety rating. I owned Jeep Wrangler Rubicon but I did alot of offroading mostly rock crowling. That thing was a beast. With a sway bar disconected and four differential locks I could climb just about anything. In the city its pretty useless.
