I cannot see how the left cannot call for George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and others to be removed from the public square, libraries, museums, universities and our currency.

Since the left is out to get all racists, feverishly on the lookout for nazis and alt-right retards, ripping down statues of confederates, why not go to the source of all this racism, eh? America’s forefathers.

Answer the question. Should we take down statues of George Washington?

41 out of 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence owned slaves. Therefore, and using the same logic we’re applying to the white supremacists in the streets demanding, err, nothing, we must reject the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and America, basically.

The country is over.

Tucker Carlson lays it out perfectly. I’d like to hear from any left wingers who disagree with my train of thought and explain to me why we should revere Thomas Jefferson.

Some ironies:

Abraham Lincoln put in place the Emancipation Proclamation during the Civil War (1863). But it only outlawed slavery in the Confederacy, not the rest of the United States.

Lincoln didn’t believe blacks should have the same rights as whites.

Though Lincoln argued that the founding fathers’ phrase “All men are created equal” applied to blacks and whites alike, this did not mean he thought they should have the same social and political rights. His views became clear during an 1858 series of debates with his opponent in the Illinois race for U.S. Senate, Stephen Douglas, who had accused him of supporting “negro equality.” In their fourth debate, at Charleston, Illinois, on September 18, 1858, Lincoln made his position clear. “I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races,” he began, going on to say that he opposed blacks having the right to vote, to serve on juries, to hold office and to intermarry with whites. What he did believe was that, like all men, blacks had the right to improve their condition in society and to enjoy the fruits of their labor. In this way they were equal to white men, and for this reason slavery was inherently unjust.

Robert E Lee was against slavery. He inherited slaves by his marriage but freed them. In a letter to President Pierce, Lee wrote that “There are few, I believe, in this enlightened age, who will not acknowledge that slavery as an institution is a moral and political evil.”

Ulysses Grant owned slaves before, during and after the Civil War. In 1863 he stated: “I never was an Abolitionist, not even what could be called anti slavery”.

Lincoln did not free the slaves. The 13th Amendment, Abolishing Slavery, was signed into force by President Andrew Johnson, born in North Carolina and resident of Tennessee – a Southerner. He was later Impeached.

The first Jewish member of the US Congress was from Louisiana, Senator Judah Benjamin, in 1852. He later became a member of the Cabinet under Jefferson Davis. Here is what he pleaded (that was widely reprinted by abolitionists) in a New Orleans court case of 1842:

“What is a slave? He is a human being. He has feelings and passion and intellect. His heart, like the heart of the white man, swells with love, burns with jealousy, aches with sorrow, pines under restraint and discomfort, boils with revenge, and ever cherishes the desire for liberty … Considering the character of the slave, and the peculiar passions which, generated by nature, are strengthened and stimulated by his condition, he is prone to revolt in the near future of things, and ever ready to conquer his liberty where a probable chance persons itself.”

None of these facts matter. We must erase all history that is uncomfortable for any oppressed minority group. The Lincoln memorial must go, the Washington monument must go, and of course Mt Rushmore must go too.

Final note: Martin Luther King Jr was a Homophobic ... Maybe the left / antifascists should tears down all the memorial & statues of Martin Luther King Jr!! He must go too according to leftie logic!!!

Is George Washington celebrated for his role in trying to destroy the country in defense of slavery?

That's the slippery slope that smart people see beginning to come to fruition. Scary times when so much of the masses have been led by media and radical leftist indoctrination. They are tearing the country apart but are too dumb to see it.

From a Canadian perspective he is celebrated for being a successful traitor.
So is William Lyon Mackenzie for that matter. We're a pretty easygoing bunch.

That's why there are no statues of him in Canada as far as I'm aware.

But we are talking the US aren't we? Washington and Jefferson are celebrating for their roles in creating the country. Lee, Stonewall, et al are celebrated for their role in tearing the country apart in defense of slavery.

It depends upon whom you ask and in what part of the country.

No doubt the lefties will disagree with me but I believe humans have the right to secede or join a union and not be killed for doing so. If the people of Quebec and Scotland want to secede so be it. If the people of Northern Ireland want to leave the U.K. and rejoin Ireland so be it.

BTW: There will be a free speech event planned for Boston this Saturday.

Washington didn't fight a war to preserve slavery. I'm guessing this kind of offensive statement by Trump is going to turn more Americans against him while raising his status among a small core of racists.

I get around.
Hahahahahahahahaha

I've often posted that trying to defend Trump leaves people sounding irrational (Sekulow, Spicer, Miller, Conway, The Mooch, Tillerson, Ivanka) and this the stupidest attempt to justify Trump so far.

The Old South has never reconciled with their dependence on a slave economy, they started the Civil War. Then they brought about Jim Crow which kept blacks in slave conditions without being indentured.

Some monuments should be revised not taken down, history cannot be erased. Stone Mountain National Monument should be enhanced with Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks and Thurgood Marshall added to it.

When are we going to tear down all those things with Trump's name on them?
Why would Putin want to tear down all of his buildings which are on his properties that happen to be registered and/or are under the Trump brand?

Makes more sense to rename them:

1) Putin Power Tower

2) Russian Oligarch Hotel and Suites

3) Moscow de Lago

4) Golden Showers Resort and Spa

That's the problem. There are people who view them simply as defending the rights of southerners to choose their own way (that way being slavery). In reality, many of those who support that view are simply wishing the result of the Civil War was different and hoping life goes back to the way it was. (of course life was far from rosy for most southern whites but it makes life more comfortable when they can blame their problems on blacks getting legal equality).
