I find it hard to believe that if each team has 3 QBs plus one on practice roster that Colin is not able to vie for one of the 30 x 4 = 120 spots

He is not a pocket passer so when they try to utilize him in that way he appears to not be as good.

That's why Tom Brady couldn't step in and play in Seatle where they rely on having a mobile passer instead of a pocket passer (which is where Brady excels)

They say its not just the "kneeling for the anthem". He's just a bad attitude guy all together. Just doesn't fit well in any system.

The guy is being paid millions a year to play football and he grandstands on national TV making a political statement, so he pissed the guy(s) off that sign the checks and now he can't find work. DUHHHHHH!
It is the name on the front of the jersey that matters. If you have something to say, do it out of uniform and professionally.
I have no sympathy!

Are there reports of this? I'm not a fan of his, but I've heard that he has done some good work and is popular with his teammates.

If Al Davis were still alive there is a better chance Colin Kaepernick would be wearing a Raiders jersey today.
As for why some cons play in the NFL and not Kaepernick is testimony that one who fights or publicly opposes racism in the US is more frowned upon by team owners and/or upper management.
I completely disagree with your interpretation.

It has nothing to do with him trying to fight racism. The vast majority of Americans oppose racism and believe it or not, that includes owners and upper management. It is HOW he went about it. He disrespected the flag and the anthem. Americans are super patriotic and what he did was a slap in the face to their patriotism. There is not much worse that he could have done.

I do, however, agree with the Al Davis speculation. He loved the renegades.

Are you saying his talents are so low that he can't find either a starting QB or back up QB spot in the league?

I maintain that a guy who spoke out on the state of affairs of blacks in the US, is no more (if not less) of a distraction than criminals, alledged criminals, substance abusers who have been given a second chance.

What was this so called defense that nullifies Colin but does not affect the other QBs in the league?

His stat line for 2016 wasn't stellar but.....

59% completetions 16/4 TD/Int 2200 Pass yards 468 rush yards and averages over 6 yards per play that he either passes or runs.....

Is not that bad. Especially when you consider that those stats also depends on a good O line, a good RB and a set of WRs.

I'll try and say it again in a different way. Second and third string QB's are a dime a dozen. Why you gonna put one on your team that's bringing all that baggage?

The football commentators I listened through while waiting for baseball talk were universally agreed that he should be on a team somewhere and his politics are the only thing keeping him out of football. I'll go with the experts on this one.
The ones I listened to all say he sucks now, and that is reason he's no longer in the NFL. I'll go with the experts on this one.

Okay and I'll put it another way..... how many PLAYERS do you think were offended by what Colin did?

This is clearly a case of an old white boy club putting an uppity black player in his place.

The cowboys took a chance on Greg HArdy who was accused of assaulting and threatening his girlfriend. They gave him a one year contract. If that is not too much of a distraction then Colin is small potatoes by comparision. I'm sure there are plenty more cases of guys with baggage getting a second chance.

Baggage much worse than what Colin did.

It doesn't matter what anyone thinks but the guy(s) that signs the check! As long as they don't like him he ain't playing. Miami for example was considering Tebow over him. Maybe arena football????

Excatly, but that's the way the world works. The owners and people that sign his check, were offended by him disrespecting the American Flag. He's not good enough to get away that, and now he's has no job. If he could put asses in the seats, some owners and GM's might look past it, but he can't.

You have an uncanny way of misinterpreting events.

IIRC 70% of NFL players are Black. I don't think those guys resented K.
Wow. What an assumption that is. That all NFL black people must agree with CK.

There's not a doubt in my mind that there are black players in the NFL who sympathize and/or agree with CK's political views but who don't agree that his actions aren't a distraction to their football team. And distractions make you take your eye off the ball (i.e., winning).

For many players, especially players in a league that has a notoriously short lifespan, winning is everything. And political distractions are for off the field, not on it.
