It is a sad day. Usain's last race too. It should have been Andre beating Usain.

BTW: Didn't Gatlin serve his penalty and has reformed?

Update: Just saw the video, Bolt actually finished 3rd.

perhaps Gatlin will test positive for illegal drugs. Bolt will still not be first. Anyway Bolt is still the all time greatest in his field.

I have no idea what you're saying, but it sounds like you're a track guy. Should be an interesting 4x100.

Paradise by the dashboard light.
Bolt looks like the tallest dude on the track, wonder if this gives him an advantage over his competitors.

Bolt is retired

Gatlin is 35

Maybe DeGrasse arrived on the scene at just the right time

Who else is out there?

You have forgotten the guy who came in second - Christian Coleman - 21 years old.
2/100ths behind Gatlin and just edging out Bolt.

This sport is in serious trouble. Not just drug cheats but also transgender athletes competing in women's events.
Hard to enjoy any outstanding performance without wondering what that performance was down to.

It makes he stride longer, but it also requires more powerful muscles to provide the torque get those long legs to move as fast as shorter legs. This helps to explain the generally slower start from Bolt - more strength needed to overcome the inertia of longer limbs. If height alone was an advantage there would be taller sprinters winning more often.

Bolt has dominated the sprint for a decade. It'd be nice to end on a victory but it doesn't matter much. The guys that beat him didn't beat his record so they're still not the fastest.

Or maybe it's a bad omen for DeGrasse's career, the fact that on the night that Bolt got old on the track, DeGarsse wasn't even in the race let alone picking up the torch.

I don't think Bolt wanted DeGrasse in the 100m competition so he could win.
A guy with a winner's mentality wouldn't step aside for anyone's "moment".

In terms of gender suspicion, they can't speak up, it's against the law.

Several years ago an Indian sprinter named Dutee Chand filed a lawsuit against the the IAAF over gender verification tests. In her claim, she was born a woman and identifies as a woman, the fact that she was being tested and men were not was discriminatory. It was a very easy case to win, the IAAF were caught totally unprepared. Now athletes who are born men but identify as women are taking advantage of the ruling.

I feel for Melissa, but there's not much she can do about it.

Not being allowed to speak up is now the norm in our society. Anybody who doesn't toe the liberal lefty agenda is immediately vilified.

It's all about testosterone levels. Semenya, Nyonsaba and Wambui in particular are thought to have abnormally high levels and were originally unable to compete without medication to normalise (for a woman) those levels.
Semenya's 800 metre times were then around 1:59 but off the medication she is 4 seconds faster.
The IAAF now have medical evidence to present to CAS that such high levels do give advantages.
So expect the rules to change shortly.
