Altuve is having one hell of a season. Leads the AL in:

BA. 367. Leads by a wide margin
Hits
Total Bases
WAR (the one all the stat-heads love. He leads Judge by a fair margin).
Doubles.

He is 3rd in steals. 4th in slugging percentage despite being generously listed at 5 foot 6 and 165 lbs (15 HR's and 59 RBI). 2nd in OPS.
You get the idea. Best player in baseball this year (Mike Trout missed a bunch of games with injury). If he doesn't win the MVP award this year it will only be because of
New York bias in favour of Judge.

@5' 6", 165 lbs , he is at least pound for pound the best in all of MLB

Don't forget outstanding numbers alone does not get you MVP, it's awarded to the player MV to his team.

Where would Astros be without Altuve? (what record would they have?)
Where would Yanks be without Judge? (what record would they have?)

Wow!, Guess I was wrong! (just looked it up) MLB MVP is awarded to best player not like Hart trophy in hockey, where it is awarded to player most valuable to his team.

Altuve should win MVP.

Somewhere but not here.
Its been the same for 6 plus years but only now getting more recognition.

Think he was signed as an amateur free agent (2007). Any team could have signed him. Houston took the chance and won big time. They signed him up at $6mil for the first 2 FA years as well.

The didn't win them all thou - in 2014 spring that same Houston club released J.D. Martinez.

Jose Altuve hit a mind boggling .485 in the month of July. Only one player in MLB history had a better month of hitting - Todd Helton hit .512 one month a few years back. Helped of course by the thin air in Colorado.

Altuve is no question my choice for AL MVP if it were to end today.
