I enjoy the show and get that they're constantly trying to build/expand their fan base and the sport in general, but man do I get tired of some of the female athletes they keep droning on about endlessly. It's impressive when the women can harness the core/upper body strength to finish some of those ridiculously challenging obstacles, but some of them celebrate at every single obstacle they clear when they have yet to even complete the course! :frusty:

To contrast some exceptional female athletes in Ninja Warrior:
a) Jessie Graff - top-notch athlete hands down, and HUMBLE. She just gives her best, and waits to celebrate until she completes the course (which she actually does, regularly, and even made it to Stage 2 and was on Team America in the World Championship)

b) Meagan Martin (aired last night in Denver) - this chick was a great athlete, but obnoxiously celebrated after each obstacle she made it through, and then she fell into the water before completing the course!

I get that she's trying to be a role model for "all the little girls out there that don't believe in themselves" etc., but celebrating after passing some of the simpler obstacles makes you look vapid, weak, and sends the message that women are incapable of completing any of the obstacles and so it's a really big deal just to get through a few (when Jessie and other ladies actually FINISH with class and panache).

Aside from that, great show and highly entertaining.

Excellent analysis! I agree with you 100 on Jessie vs Meagan. I think the other women we should be looking out for this year other than Jessie Graf is Jesse Flex Lebreck

I agree with you and spot on analysis, saw the Cleveland show she rocked. Hate the hype they give that Casey "cat" forget her last name but she annoys me, the new generation of females rock.

Sean McColl .. I remembered that show it's like he came out of nowhere and schooled the Ninjas.

You may not like Casey Catanzaro (I think. Spelling?), but she definitely opened the door and paved the way for other women to ANW.

Great show. Very entertaining. I always wonder who thinks up these diabolical obstacles and challenges.

I liked Casey at the beginning but then they just hyped her so much that I developed a dislike. If you take away the hype every show then I'm good... it's the hyping that turns me off to be honest, but hyping is part of this show.

The ideas come from the competitors and viewers mostly, I remember a show this year and they said that an 7 year old came up with an idea for an obstacle and they showed the kids face and gave him credit. Some are variations on older obstacles and then you get the imports from the original Japanese game.

Casey Catanzaro is ANW's Marie Mejzlíková II. She was among the first women in the "sport" but far from the best today.

Awesome! The powerful grip this athlete/stunt woman has, is more than enough to choke my chicken.

So after watching this amazing display of female athletic prowess - the only thought in your mind is how can this talent benefit the sexual performance in bed with me ????

Thank God - I thought I was the only one !

For me it's like the Olympics - I like watching the outstanding performances occasionally but I'm not an avid fan.

Good grief son! When I see these hotties jumping, gripping and hopping around, I think of me between those 2 legs and being bopped around like a bitch.
I'll save the sports commentary for the Mayweather vs Connor fight.

Kristine Leahy is so fuckin' hot!

I love the show. I DVR it every week, can playback a two hour show in an hour cutting out commercials and some of the background promo bs.
Yes, the top girls are impressive. But I'm impressed with some of the top men who fly through the course making it look easy. Some of them figured out the faster you go, the less time you have to use up your strength and energy. I find myself sitting in front of the TV, cheering them on.

I am getting a bit pissy over these background bios.

I did watch the finale again this year, and I find the show a little ridiculous - they are basically milking all of these athletes to promote their sport and no one is getting a dime. There has only been ONE $1M winner in NINE seasons. That's bullshit. Whoever makes it the farthest (e.g. in this case Stage 3 obstacle 7) should at least get a cheque for $100K or something. These people kill themselves training and doing what they love plus promoting the league, and while I'm sure some of the superstars get a little advertisement money/sponsorship from their newfound fame, making an impossible obstacle course that no one can finish seems disingenuous if you ask me...

It would be one thing if there was a professional athlete that could visibly demonstrate that all 3 stages (2-4) can be completed back-to-back in quick succession, then I'd at least believe they designed a FAIR and PASSABLE course, but that check & balance isn't there...

Was surprised to see Drew Dreschel and Daniel Gil both fuck up early and not pass Stage 2, but that Weatherman kicked ass throughout Stage 3, very impressive!

There's lots of truth in what you say, but let's never forget it's a commercial TV show, not a sport, not a league. That said, I really enjoy watching it, but I'm always aware that the point is not to have athletes succeed but to have audiences on the edges of their seats (and determined to watch the next night or week) wondering if they'll fail. And fall.

Those eyeballs are how they built that show up from its almost pathetically small start in daylit parking lots to the month-long mainstreet-clogging Acropolis of scaffolding, lights, generators and drop tanks it is today. I'm with you; rewarding the ninjas would be good showmanship, and good for the enterprise. But it's clear that they don't need to, just to keep the athletes coming. It's also clear from the bios that lotsa hard-working aspiring competitors already have the wherewithall to set up or attend ninja gyms on their own in the hopes of showing off their prowess to a TV audience of millions that someone else paid to build.
