In a showdown at the plenary of the UNHRC, China, Russia, Cuba, Pakistan and Venezuela tried to silence Hillel Neuer for questioning the membership of dictatorships on the Human Rights Council. However, USA, Britain, Netherlands, Canada defended UN Watch's right to speak. When the Chair finally gave Mr. Neuer back the floor, with only 3 seconds left on the clock, he replied: "They can censor at home, but they cannot censor us at the United Nations." Human rights activists burst out in applause. Cuba complained again — yet the Chair rejected Cuba's complaint, and moved on. On this day, the dictators lost at the U.N. (March 11, 2016.)
