And now you are suggesting whites are a minority in the US? Damn you are funny.tell that to the struggling poor whites in Appalachia, U.S.A

Mimic graduation? They can't graduate again. I think it's just a post-graduation celebration. This, however, is different. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Black Students Association or the Vietnamese Students Association having a reception for graduating members, but having an event that mimics a graduation: sitting graduates in academic regalia that as already stated sends a unfortunate message.
Agreed.I don't see a problem with this. If they were asking for university funding to do it, or if it was replacing the official graduation ceremony then I'd call bullshit but if black students want to have their own little get together so be it.
Just remember, what's good for the goose is good for the gander.
Oh smoke a joint and relax. It's not a graduation ceremony but a post-graduation celebration. If they want to pat each other on the back, what's wrong with that?Graduating students of all races are welcome to attend the inclusive graduation. Noboby is barring them. It is they who are setting up the racially exclusive alternative graduation, where they will mingle only with their own kind instead of networking with all their peers. Steve Bannon is smiling.
Let's talk about the elephant in the room. Blacks faced historic and systemic discrimination. Whites did not, and instead inflicted that historic and systemic discrimination.Except any realist would know that if there was a white only grad - there would be an uproar of biblical proportions.
I am fine with them having a black only event, and you are right that it won't cost UofT anything more then maybe some plastic dishes but the point is no one should be demanding something they are themselves guilty of. So someone would be in an uproar about a whites only grad, should be enjoying a black only one.
A University that would not be so insensitive as to have, support and fund and whites only grad should be offering those to a black only grad.
THAT is what equal rights are. Not just the part of rights you want to pick. You need to take the good with the bad.
You guess I will react to what? Factual history? How is someone suppose to react to that other then with acceptance. LOLLet's talk about the elephant in the room. Blacks faced historic and systemic discrimination. Whites did not, and instead inflicted that historic and systemic discrimination.
I guess you will react to that, but it's true. When a fact like that makes you uncomfortable you should ask some questions.
The University IS Funding it, does that make you feel any different?I don't see a problem with this. If they were asking for university funding to do it, or if it was replacing the official graduation ceremony then I'd call bullshit but if black students want to have their own little get together so be it.

I don't think even you understand your posts.i never said whites are a minority. solve your reading comprehension problems
Universities fund all sorts of student clubs. This is no different than them funding the chess club. The University IS Funding it, does that make you feel any different?
Doesn't change the fact that having a Black-only graduation is part of the problem. When has segregation ever helped bring people together and promote understanding?Let's talk about the elephant in the room. Blacks faced historic and systemic discrimination. Whites did not, and instead inflicted that historic and systemic discrimination.

Or an all white, or all Asian, or all indian graduation ceremony & anyone who identifies as being White, Asian, Indian etc etc.Universities fund all sorts of student clubs. This is no different than them funding the chess club.
Hopefully the chess pieces can still be black and white.Universities fund all sorts of student clubs. This is no different than them funding the chess club.
It's a tragedy that people like you get to vote in elections. You are absolutely right,...its NOT an equal playing field,..."whites" could never get away with this.
There's a huge difference between segregation and celebration.Doesn't change the fact that having a Black-only graduation is part of the problem. When has segregation ever helped bring people together and promote understanding?
I understand the sentiment behind the celebration, but it's still a problem unto itself.
So does that mean you agree,...or disagree with my post,...It's a tragedy that people like you get to vote in elections.
Hard to tell,...because all you did was post childish nonsense.Originally Posted by FAST
