So for all the nay-sayers of the FA, what if there was some safety reason as to why people needed to stay in their seats, and the little girl wet herself then, would grannie finally be responsible for the child???? Happens on planes all the time. Seat belt sign is on. I have at 3-4hr flights were they were on the whole time.
Clearly not the case in this situation as the cart was left in the isle, just saying.

I get that.... hence the WHAT IF - I put in the front of the question. Still a valid question as it is something that happens a lot of flights. So again... WHAT IF the child needed to go and the seat belt sign was on.... would grannie still be able to pass off her mistakes of neglectful planning and care of the child onto the FAs and the airline?

No that is a different situation. Think of the uproar there would be if the FA allowed the young child and grandmother go to the bathroom even though the seatbelt sign was on and they got hurt because of some very bad turbulence. I could be wrong, but I do not think there would be any support for the grandmother and child if they complained like they did in this situation.

So either way, grannie is not wrong in her neglect to properly prepare and care for the child? It is always someone's fault? OK...

A fully toilet trained 3 year old should not have to suffer the indignity of travelling in diapers.
Grannie was misled in her booking and not provided the use of either bathroom for an extended period.
The what if extended turbulence is a very rare occurrence and indeed then almost all passengers should carry diapers!
Had she flown Westjet this would not have happened. Like AC they pack you in like cattle but they have a less elitist attitude and the FAs don't carry prods.
The fact that she was offered partial compensation suggests AC realized they did not meet their obligations to their paying customers.

anywhere i want;)
Exactly... This is not a normal passenger. This is a three year old who needed to se the washroom and unlike adults can not hold her bladder for a long period of time. The FA should have just let her use the washroom. I'm sure people on the flight would have understood.

come on people! it's a 3 year old she needs to use the bathroom someone (air hostess??) should be able to do something jesus!

Wow! Is that all you were waiting to hear. I could have said that days ago. Five different scenarios could have played out for possible things that could have been different. I woman standing and screaming on a plane (NO. That wouldn't have possibly freaked anyone out) is what some feel is the best way to have dealt with what happened as opposed to a person providing service on a plane letting a 3 yo use a god damn bathroom?

Note to self: Stand up and scream next time you don't get what you want on a flight...ya that's it!?!

No I was looking for someone to see that grannie had some responsibility for her owe grandchild. Why is that such a hard concept?

Could the FA done this or that differently and should he/she have, sure. I said that from the beginning by why is there no accountability for grannie to have either spoken up and asked to get by the cart, or at the very least - bring a fucking change of clothes?

A 3yr old is a fully paying passenger and should have access to any available washroom at any safe time to do so.

Can any of you, blowhards included, show me where on your ticket contract - business or otherwise, where it says you can't use ANY washroom.

What next bring the whites only toilets back?

Regardless of if granny forgot spare clothes, it's the flight attendants duty to serve needs of passengers. The FA failed horribly despite granny`s poor planning this could have been avoided quite easily.

Further many kids have small bladders and need to pee more frequently.

The FA should be fired, there was no reason to deny access to a washroom. NONE WHATSOEVER.

Cause granny doesn't own the plane and was there with some services provided. The service department failed her, no her 3 yo granddaughter. Pretty simple to me actually. Guess we'll always feel differently on this. To me she took responsibility in trying to get the 3 yo to the bathroom in a mature and civilized manner.
We will feel differently. I would never have the issue grannie did. My 3 yr old would never be left to sit in their urine filled pants. Regardless of the "failed" services in your opinion. It would just never happen, but I was raise to be responsible for myself and those in my care. I was raised to know you can't control other people so you need to make sure you are taking care of things yourself. That is me.

At least I have been able to see your side. Even if I feel there are flaws in your logic, I can see why you think and feel the way you do. I feel it goes past the denial of a bathroom that they were not paid to use. The fact that others can not see any fault on grannie sides, is shocking but it shouldn't be. This world is becoming nothing more then a bunch of pass the buck entitled elitist, so it really should not surprise me. I guess I just hoped that some would be open minded enough in this convo, to see the other side of their debate, as I have. But again - I need to learn that people are not like me. People are closed minded and set in their ways and just can't be open to other possibilities.

Thankfully, as I said, this would never happen to me, or my kids or my grand kids. No way would my kids sit in pissed pants for 3 mins let alone 3 hours. That is just fucked! I have enough brains and enough sense of responsibility that it would just not happen. I feel bad for the 3 yr old. You think the FA failed her, I think grannie failed her even more, and sadly I can bet grannie will do again and again throughout her life.

Also thankfully for the FA, they will not be fired for doing their job and I am happy to see she will not be forced to give grannie an apology that in my opinion she does not deserve. There are so many things that could have happened to that child in grannie's care that she would not have been prepared for. But hey, the everyone is on the "airlines suck" bandwagon, so no surprise grannie is passing the buck to them and people are just eating it up.

That is my final word on the subject.

Actually this is very simple (you never fly before?)
Economy is not allowed to even walk into business class section
So if you can not enter the section, how can you possibly get to the washroom
Teleportation?

Oh and since you obviously have never flown business class; it is even advertised as having exclusive washrooms as a ticket feature
