I get around.
Sure. And Roddenberry would have approved. He in fact had tried to have a Female First officer in the original series and was told no.

Considering who they have for the parts I don't have an issue with this.

And thankfully they are using the Klingons as the villains. If they had done this for the last series it would have been a hit I think.

Quite frankly these people aren't fans. The notion goes against Roddenberry to the core.
Agree, the people complaining are not Star Trek fans and seem to be missing the point.

As a fan of the original series from the beginning, I point out that it didn't sink to needing 'villains' until well into the third dozen episodes. And that's when it started its long slow decline into ordinary mediocrity IMHO.

It did illustrate two eternal truths about humans, wherever they go: They'll always face problems they'll need intelligence and cooperation to solve, and it'll always be easier to load the blame on a villain than to do that.

Malcolmx is describing behaviour not opinions

mo you made the claim you provide the evidence in threads and posts where i attack Muslims based on religion. the burden of proof is on you

i have no idea what i am talking about? all you do is respond with insults and name calling, racial slurs when you have no facts only feelings when you see something you don't agree with and do a research on the Club Of Rome and global warming

in the "peer reviewed" feminis/gender studies 2 academics people managed to publish a Hoax blaming penises for all evils of the world

Hoax paper blaming the evils of the world on male obsession with penises is published in a leading journal (and is met with widespread acclaim)
American academics wrote the paper to expose gender studies as 'nonsense'
They entitled their essay "The Conceptual Penis as a Social Construct"
It received praise for its analysis of hypermasculinity despite being made up
The publishers of the journal are currently investigating the situation

that's your peer review journals you can have it
Wow you are so unbelievably dumb, not surprising since you thought pizza gate was real.
You keep posting articles about random irrelevant radicals with headlines that don't distinguish them from regular Muslims, its obviously an appeal to emotion with a political agenda. You don't post stuff about Christian or Hindu extremists, so it's obvious you have an extreme bias against Islam. Any search of your posts will uncover that. Far Right wing terrorism is more of a threat to US national security according to The FBI but you surprisingly don't talk about that.

I agree with most of the world's climate scientists about climate change, as opposed to those with a politcal bias. NASA is more credible than any Yahoo you can Google search.

You don't have the ability to distinguish what periodical is good and isn't, I'm pretty sure your lack of education would hamper your comprehension. But yes, academics do sometimes disagree.

However, there are no legitimate climate scientists that disagree that climate change isn't man made it accelerated, as opposed to gender studies.

If you can't understand that opinion and behavior go hand in hand, you're even more dumb than I thought. HOUSE NEGRO! Go to any non-partisan black organization and spout your nonsense and I'm sure you'll be told to FUCK off.

I don't know what kind of fact you're looking for, when common knowledge is a thing.

I think the critics are being uniformed. The whole Star Trek institution may be many things, but not diverse enough is not one of them. The series started with a Jewish Captain, Jewish science officer, black woman and an Oriental driver. And it continued from there in the same fashion. What next? Not enough diversity in a production of Julius Caesar?

Trouble is the 'critics' in the current controversy are demanding less diversity, more lily-whiteness.

And you say Spock was Jewish?

Nimoy was, along with Shatner. Which means it's true that for its time it did present a very racially diverse crew even from the first.

. HOUSE NEGRO is a historical term coined by a black civil rights leader.

Unlike you I'm out there in the black community. You're on the internet in your mom's basement.

Stop talking about science you know nothing about it.

You nearly got it right jcpro, a gay oriental navigator.

I hope Luscious Malfoy beams these intolerant bastages into outer space. Latest news Rainn Wilson (The Office) will play Harry Mudd.

I'm assuming Lt. Sarru is a shape shifter. This is what Doug Jones is famous for:

It still gets me when people can't distinguish the fictional character from the actor, like jcpro.

It's a good point. But. In the collective consciousness of the fans of Star Trek, where does Nimoy end and Spock begin? Is Shatner going to go to his grave as anything else but Capt. Kirk? Some roles cannot be separated from the people who played them. We can, of course, be pedantic about it and apply racial equality to science fiction characters which is kind of dumb. And, even in that case, the bridge was pretty diverse with one Vulcan, a (gay)Oriental, a black human female, a white captain and a Russian(technically white). And that was in the 60s, what's the problem?

O

An asian chick and a hot ebony in space? What's not to love about that? I'll sign up for a tour of duty!

And you say Spock was Jewish?
The Vulcan salute is.

In his autobiography I Am Not Spock, Nimoy wrote that he based it on the Priestly Blessing performed by Jewish Kohanim with both hands, thumb to thumb in this same position, representing the Hebrew letter Shin (ש), which has three upward strokes similar to the position of the thumb and fingers in the salute. The letter Shin here stands for El Shaddai, meaning "Almighty (God)", as well as for Shekinah and Shalom. Nimoy wrote that when he was a child, his grandfather took him to an Orthodox synagogue, where he saw the blessing performed and was impressed by it.

However, unless you're claiming Rodenberry said the Vulcans were the Lost Tribe of Israel you just defeated your own point. As you say, the Jewish Nimoy will forever be remembered as a Vulcan by many, but he can never ever be the Jewish Vulcan of your post.

And for one fan, Shatner will always be foremost the renderer of Lucy in Sky. When I glimpsed Shatner pretending to be Kirk, my first thought was, "Wasn't he once on CBC's Space Command, back in the '50s?" confirmed when James Doohan, a regular on that show, turned up as Scottie. For me, nothing he did as Kirk ever supplanted that. We all have our own memories; we can see if we share common ones, but it's dangerous to simply assume we do. I have friends who first saw Shatner at Stratford, and only much later heard he'd done TV-sci-fi, "… something called Startrack?"

The real deal: Actors are real people who impersonate those pretend characters. Actors have nationality, ethnicity and religion, which they put away and conceal when you're watching them perform. Characters are inventions, and what you see is only as real as the wigs, and make-up, and the carefully-faked settings that folks like me built and dressed around them. All to aid the deception invented by the writers who put their scripted words in the mouths of those performers to say instead of their own. Nice to know that worked so convincingly, but my actor friends and relatives would be pissed at you for not recognizing the difference between a passing bit of their skilled craft and themselves.

And to clear up your new points: Are you really saying there was an episode where Sulu was established as gay? Or was this just another of your mush-ups of fictional character and human actor? And what's with a Russian being technically white? Anyone who is pale enough to be really white is dead from bleeding out. And until someone comes up with scientific definitions, the last thing any of those phony racist descriptors like black, red, yellow or white can possibly be is 'technically' anything.
