I thought he did a good job as 007

Actor Sir Roger Moore, best known for playing James Bond, has died aged 89, his family has announced.
He played the famous spy in seven Bond films including Live and Let Die and the Spy Who Loved Me.
Sir Roger's family confirmed the news on Twitter, saying he had died after "a short but brave battle with cancer".
The statement, from his children, read: "Thank you Pops for being you, and being so very special to so many people."
"With the heaviest of hearts, we must share the awful news that our father, Sir Roger Moore, passed away today. We are all devastated," they said in a Twitter post.

They've been having a James Bond fest on TMN over the last week or so. It was interesting to watch the progression of the franchise. Some movies were great, the others, well, not so much.

I thought they replaced Connery because he was getting too old for the role. But Moore was actually 3 years older than Connery.

Connery and Craig are still my favourite Bonds, but Moore was very good in the role as well. (though he seemed a lot less menacing than Connery or Craig).

He had a good long life, it should be celebrated.

I watched The Saint as a kid, he was perfect in the role.

Connery, Craig, Pierce Brosnan - I liked the books and these actors movies but I hated Roger Moore's 007 movies. I found them fluff and almost a satire of the original Bond character.

As in the Saint - he had better results.

RIP to a good man.

Even though he did try to turn Bond into a comedy to my dislike.

I thought he did decent Bond..
He played Bond with a sense of humour and English sophistication.

My Mother met him when she accompanied my brother-in-law for his heart surgery in a specialized clinic in the south of France a number of years ago.. Sir Roger Moore had also undergone a heart procedure in the same clinic.

She was impressed by his sense of humour, his modesty and his gentlemanly demeanor.

He was also my favourite Bond. Campy at times but he looked the part, unlike Brosnan and Dalton.

Moore's Bond was a bit too campy for my liking; too much reliance and crazy gadgets, etc. Connery followed by Brosnan got the right mix of seriousness and silliness IMO. Let's also not forget his decades long involvement with UNICEF.

His version of bond was very entertaining. I really enjoyed his work. RIP 007.

I too was surprised to learn that Connery was younger than Moore...I have all those Bond movies, they were outstanding.

I really tried to give Daniel Craig a chance, but they turned light entertainment to be enjoyed in summer time into a bloody Greek tragedy.
