Not for easily offended disclaimer blah blah blah

Kevin Pillar called the opposing pitcher a faggot
It was wrong etc
But the incredibly PC response has been nothing short of laughable
News articles about Toronto LBGT community being stunned, and the obvious PC speak apologies being published are just jokes

It's like yes he did something wrong now get over it

Kevins hilarious apology letter: (does anyone think he actually wrote this?)

I agree. People are making a mountain out of a molehill.

The guy was pumped and he lashed out. It happens. He apologized, good enough.

It's not like she shot someone in a fit of road rage or the like.

Was the opposing pitcher actually gay?

I say this because if he is, it's one thing. If he's not, well, then it's just calling the guy a name for crying out loud. Who hasn't done that?

He did write the letter and showed a journalist the drafts on his computer.

He was upset. He was frustrated. He was pumped. I doubt he meant the comment. It offended a number of people. He did wrong. He got a commensurate punishment - just like if he swung at someone or hit someone with a pitch. This is the modern world. This is how things are. Get used to it. Not 1955 anymore.

Time to move on.

Bunch of fucking politically correct bullshit it went over the top, he should get a warning that's all ...
The pitcher is married, if he was gay ..it would be a different story.

Kevin and I must be from the same generation. When I was on our high school swim team (backup), we used to occasionally call each other and members of opposing teams "you fcuking f-----". Jock talk.

Does anybody remember when that umpire called Robby Alomar that word and Robby spat at him? It almost cost Robby membership in the MLB HOF.

"On Sept. 27, 1996, in Toronto, he and umpire John Hirschbeck argued heatedly over a called third strike. When Hirschbeck ejected Álomar from the game, Alomar spit in Hirschbeck’s face, claiming the umpire used a degrading slur against him. He reportedly called the star a “faggot” as he was walking away."

Shit, this incident is now on the CBC and CTV national news. Shouldn't this be relegated to just the sports news?

Roberto Alomar was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in just his 2nd year of eligibility, with 90% of the vote, well above the 75% threshold needed for induction. He had come up just short of induction in his 1st year on the ballot, with 73.7% of the vote.
That was the highest vote percentage for a 1st year player without being inducted, a sure indication he would receive the necessary votes the following year.

Kevin Pillar is an articulate man, he lost his head and offered to give the pitcher bassoon lessons.

Unlike Yunel Escobar, who had the slogan "tu e un maricon" on his eye patches for days.

Why is Tom Hardy so popular, he doesn't leave anyone out. He's married with two kids, Charlotte Riley is a lovely woman. His portrayals of gay men are unconventional and memorable. Reginald Kray, the most dangerous homo in the world.

It's a case of "pile on" and something for people to be outraged about.

It was incredibly offensive (especially to that particular community, coming from someone who is supposed to represent the city of Toronto and Canada for that matter) but he apologized, seems sincere (at least IMO), the Blue Jays did the right thing, so Yes it is time to move on. But that's not how the media works in this day and age. This is a juicy news story in an otherwise boring run up to the long weekend.

Some of you must be Trump supporters then given the way you think. Jock or locker room talk doesn't make it right.

Agree though, he apologized sincerely, he was suspended. Now time for everyone to move on, and for some of you to join the 21st century. It's NOT OK to talk like this in any context anymore. Just as it's no longer acceptable to have slaves, use the N word or many other examples I could give you where the world became enlightened.
How dare you insult people by calling them "Trump Supporters"? You should be banned for at least 2 days!
I don't see where anyone is approving of what Pillar did, that are just saying shit happens in the heat of battle. Bad choice of words, get over it!

Gays are still the most hated subgroup in the world, the day that persecution against them ends is the day we can call it overkill.

Kevin Pillar has to make restitution, for the good of the Jays.

To paraphrase Alanis Morissette...isn't it ironic!?....don't ya think!?.... that we're on this forum being outraged at Kevin Pillar's immoral behaviour?

(sorry.....I couldn't resist)

$10,000 donation to a nice, uncontroversial, mainstream LGTB charity sounds about right.
