It's working great. Everybody is now equal --- equally poor and equally miserable. Socialism --- the great equalizer.

I'm middle of the road when it comes to politics(left or right depending on the issue), but I don't think dictatorship equals socialism. For a better example of socialism perhaps look at some Nordic countries.

The definition of socialism is,...

"a political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole."

Might just a well simply use Venezuela,...a lot less words.

why do you think that a country cannot be socialist and have a free market economy like in Nordic countries ?
I never said it couldnt. I welcome a free market economy mixed with a bit of socialism.
(and also a good healthcare system)

My only gripe is when you mix in TOO much socialism

Extreme is always bad either way too much socialism or too much capitalism
Smart response!

So then it becomes a matter of degrees. How far Left do you go, and how far Right do you go??
And who's to say which is which??

In most western democracies the competition is always between a left and a right party. Both negotiate how far right and how far left you go to keep the balance. In third world dictatorships they don't have this balance because a single party has all the power
Great, so we somewhat agree. Do you also agree that Venezuela has gone WAY TOO far Left??

Or not??

Agree, but that doesn't mean that all of socialism is a failed system
We totally agree!

Its a balancing act when it comes to capitalism vs. socialism.
Too much of one vs. the other isnt good, and vice versa

Same thing with religion. The problem isn't with religion itself just too much religion is bad whether it's Islam Christianity or Judaism
Its also a matter of how much one religion tries to dominate over the other one

They've gone corrupt and autocratic. I bet Maduro's family has become extremely wealthy in recent years.

Trump reminds me a lot of Chavez: a populist spouting conspiracy theories and promising to fuck over the elites and globalists in order to help the little guy, but who is full of shit, mostly interested in self aggrandizing, and willing to subvert democracy to expand his own power.

Venezuela's problem isn't socialism.

It's dictatorship coupled with mindless stupidity.
And that stupidity is called,...socialism,...by definition.

Socialism worked well in Nordic countries like Norway and Sweden. They are listed as ones with the highest standards of living in the world.
Once again,...government programs are NOT socialism,...simply governments being responsible to their citizens.

And picking two small countries with less population than Ontario, out of hundreds, is meaningless,...those 2 countries do NOT have any more government programs than 100's more, so OBVIOULSY it has NOTHING to do with what you call socialism.

Might as well pick the Vatican or Monaco.

What's going on in Venezuela is not just overspending on programs. It's populism mixed with conspiracy theory and dictatorship.
