IDK, but I'd like it if Dartman wouldn't curse out one of Canada's best MMA athletes in his title..lol

Dartman, all kidding aside, I'm shocked GSP is back. I'm more taken with him fighting in middleweight.

Age is always a factor in any sport. But GSP left the UFC on the top of his game. I'm certain, his training and conditioning is still top notch, so certainly he is a legit threat in the UFC still.
I don't see him staying at middleweight, which makes things interesting if he beats Bisping. Back to welter, the road there isn't much easier with the idea of facing Thompson or Woodley.

I think GSP will do better in Welterweight, and has the ability to again hold the belt there. The question is... How long is Georges sticking around for?
I agree age is a factor but GSP is an anomaly, he has still maintained a routine training regimen over @ Tristar with Zahabi. But him fighting at 185 is the only issue, especially since he could make 155 if he wants to (he's a small welterweight). Skill wise he will have Bisping outclassed. It is confusing as to what he will do if he wins the 185 belt, because I really don't want to see him vs Yoel... And he mentioned today on Serra's podcast that he has signed a 4 fight fight contract with UFC.

Anyways, not going to get too excited for a fight until I heard Buffer announcing it. I was @ 206 and was disappointed DC vs Johnson was cancelled, then Aldo vs Holloway fell apart, now Khabib had to pull out. Rather just wait till day of fight and see what's left ...

He should not come back and here's why.

His fights became more and more boring as he would keep guys at bay with jabs and try and last 5 rounds (as they were title fights).

That tactic relies on speed and let's face it he has been out for a while so not only is age an issue but so is ring rust.

Take the money they would spend to get GSP to fight and spend it on promoting and developing new young talent rather than bringing back a novelty act. Sure GSP might bring back some of the old viewers but will they stay after GSP leaves again?

How much do they expect the PPV buy rate to increase?

This is like bringing back Hulk Hogan to the WWE.

Yoel pretty much scares the shit out of the whole middleweight division. GSP should avoid him like the plague. I think GSP could definitely out wrestle Wonderboy easily but Woodley is a very strong guy for welterweight.

I am a GSP fan but imho this is all about his ego and money, his GOAT status in his own mind is being threatened by Conner and his 2 titles.

I think his 4 fight plan is Bisbing to try and win the middle weight title..he will vacate if he wins.....Hate Bisbing, I just hope he does not take him lightly like Rockhold did.

GSP did not want to fight his buddy WonderBoy so Woodleys win made for GSP to try and recapture his WW title...

If he wins both fights I see it setting up the largest PPV event ever vs Conner....in 2 parts at 170 and 155

Again I like GSP but hate how this return has put so many great fighters on hold..Yoel Romero is 39 and a beast, I believe would destroy GSP and Bisbing but because of time he may never get his due....I want to see Diaz/Conner 3 that won't happen for a while....Demian Maia is 39 and I feel has earned another shot at a title if he gets past Masvidal that won't happen..

Yes its the money, but hes wanted to fight the past few years and has been dealing with negotiation problems. When he left the UFC did not have the bullshit reebok contract. Athletes used to make majority of their money from external sponsors, now they get paid 2500 to $25000 per fight, nothing compared to before.

GSP was already under contract with Under Armour this entire time and was getting paid a few million per year from them just because of his current brand. GSP wanted UFC to honor his Under Armour contract or pay him equally for the lost amount.

Both sides didnt budge since GSP had a smart legal team with him. And Dana plus UFC didnt budge because they didnt need to pay GSP with the high gates Ronda and Conor were pulling in for them. Now that one of his babies is probably retired and the other trying to get a fight with Floyd, Dana had no choice but to come to terms with GSP.

I agree I dont like the bisping fight as well but this is the biggest PPV cash grab. Cant wait to see their upcoming press conference tour in toronto haha. But id rather see GSP against woodley, maia, lawler.

Hopefully he pulls out the win

If GSP stuck with the gymnastics+power lifting this whole time he will be back even stronger than when he left.
I think Bisping is the perfect match up for George considering Michael is a striker...probably why he went for the middle weight instead of welterweight.

George is an intelligent fighter he knows how to pick his opponent when he doesn't hold the title. Being the champion forces him to fight whoever makes no1 contender. Although he was able to get
the best of his challengers it wasn't the same feeling as going into a fight with an opponent of his choice.
George has better success against strikers with his extremely high take down success, he will be able to decide if and when he wants to take to the ground.
He knows better to stay out of the welterweight division there are some strong mofo wrestlers there, middleweight is stacked with strikers thats
where he should be.
