This is a time lapse photography of a McDonald's meal, the basic cheeseburger with french fries and chicken nuggets.
The sample was left out for a total of 4 months, from November 10, 2012 until March 10, 2013.
The experiment was performed in Puerto Rico where it was subjected to relatively high humidity levels.
The only changes observed were to the beef patty, where some growth of mold spores was detected in the surface, due to the humidity levels.
The cheese didn't melted and no mold was detected on the bread.
The french fries and chicken nuggets dried out and reduced their volume.
Each and every food item maintained their structural integrity.
No decomposition was noticed during the time frame, no larva was detected. There was no gas produced and no change in the odor of the sample.
Although the sample was in an open environment, no insects, flies, cockroaches, ants or rodents approached the sample to smell, eat or lay eggs over it.
