Have any members gone through colon cleansing sessions. Note this is not a sexual discussion....I am talking about the clinics that pump warm water into the colon and then flush it out. I am considering it as I have always been a big meat eater and want to get some of that crap out of me. Now that I am in my fifties, I think about cancer a lot more. How much fecal matter can one expect to lose? any other benefits?

IMO cleanses with water or pills are a waste of time and money. Pills contain a whole cocktail of chemicals and do you really want to have some random person spraying pressurized water up your ass? One wrong move and you're in big trouble. Do it the natural way by cutting down the red, fatty and processed meats, and having more fiber in your diet.

No scientific evidence supports the alleged benefits of colon cleansing

but I suggest you discuss with your family doctor

Did this once a couple of years ago. When you say you want to get some of that crap out of you, that is certainly what happens.
Whether there is scientific evidence that it helps or not, I definitely felt better after. It really cleaned me out.
At the time, I was experiencing regular bouts of diarrhea and this help get me regular again.
I went to a place on Yonge, up in the Aurora area. Don't remember the name or address.
The machine is somewhat genius in design. The process is painless. A tad uncomfortable for the first few minutes, but not terrible.

I've had a cleansing done prior to a medical procedure. I Remember buying some kind of cleansing solution at shoppers drug mart. I don't remember what it was but it was nasty, and it worked. I recall it just being an over the counter jug of powder that you added several litres of water to.

Did see get to see what the waste water passing out through the
drainage line look like? I guess it has to look like watery stool and carry
an offensive odour if the operation is indeed effective.

You can see everything that you secrete, if you choose to look.
There is no odour, but then again, my shit doesn't smell. ;)

Well, stuff just doesn't stay in there for an indeterminate amount of time. Your body's regular functions rid you of waste products. That being said, if you are more of a carnivore, it's time to change your diet up, especially at your age. There should be more veggies on your plate than meat and make fruits a veggies a bigger part of your overall diet.

This is a good solution and as stated, and add more fruits and veggies in your diet.

I believe you are talking about Pico-Salax. Take a stool softener and this to do a self cleanse. This is what is prescribed for patients going in for a colonoscopy.

Have you ever done a salt water flush ? This is extremely good to clean you out , read up on it of course but basically i take 2 tbsp of Himilayian salt with 4 cups of warm spring water. Boiled water works as well once it comes to room temp. You Chug it down and go lay down ans wait.... 30 to 40 mins later you feel the urge ... Then you will need to be by a washroom for the next 1.5 hrs or so but by the end will be spraying our clear water and be squeaky clean.... The salt does not get absorbed and due to the specific gravity of the solution it just passes through your body ... The other think that you can due is to get some metamucil and take 3 tbsp with a tall glass of water 2-3 times a day ... This will clear you out and may not be as drastic as the salt water flush

Again read up on all of this before trying , i learned what works for my body and flush every second month and stay very regular as a result.... Before I did this I did not go everyday and has issues

Hard to imagine how millions of years of evolution somehow got it wrong, as far as expelling waste from the body goes. Agree with the comment to discuss with your doctor first. In some instances, this flush can help (very limited, I would add), and it is a standard procedure for your 'turn 50 and get a colonoscopy' cleanse....but that's just so they can see all of your colon without any material in the way....and of course they inflate you with air so you become your own one-man band once the anesthetic wears off....lol.....but seriously, the health benefits purported for colon cleansing, including the myth about pieces of meat being in there for years, is crap (lol, pun intended).

I agree with what you are saying in concept but have to say that food is no where near what it used to be. We have food full of chemicals and steroids and very nasty preservatives that the body is not meant to break down. This can cause issues that involve not going to the washroom regularly. Will a colon cleanse or flush solve this ? Maybe ... maybe not ... But the fact of the matter that leaves me to believe that there are at least some benefits are simply that it helps with elimination of waste and that the body can then concentrate on healing and other things rather than focusing on eliminating waste that is harder to breakdown ... I eat as much fresh fruits and veggies as possible and agree that that is by far the best method ... Let your food be your medicine and your medicine your food ... But when your food is the toxic that is slowing your body down you may need extra help ... My 2 cents and a buck fifty will buy you a cup of coffee ...

I did a colonic about ten years ago. It is a very weird feeling having it done and it does cleanse your system well. If you are looking to do a colonic flush, have a look at the clinic at Danforth and Broadview, they are one of the best in Canada.
As for how much fecal matter, it varies. Other benefits are no more bloating and easier BM.

Exactly! The body is designed to expel whatever you put in your mouth, one way or another. If it can't be broken down and used by you, then it gets the punt, either through your urine or fecal matter. It doesn't just find a spot and park itself. There is no evidence of normal and healthy people who need to have this done. A colonoscopy is a whole other animal and it warranted that there is no shit in the way when this procedure is done.

You're correct in your take on the food today. That being said, we can all change our habits and prepare our own meals, buying better and healthy alternatives and knowing what it is you're eating, with a change in the amount of portions that we put on our plates, with veggies taking up a higher proportion of our plate, rather than meat.
Chemicals either get absorbed or expelled. Steroids have no affect on your bowel movement, unless all you eat is meat, then that steroid laden meat will have an affect on your bowel movement. A colon cleanse would only be a short term fix for any BM issues that you're having. Drinking more water everyday and eating more fruits and veggies too, and try eating a cup of All Bran everyday as well and you should have no issues with having a good, regular BM.

Since you're in your 50s, have you had a colonoscopy? If so, the prep (Pico-Salax) would have completely cleaned you out. If not, what are you waiting for colon cancer? As others have said, don't waste your money. You don't have fecal matter stuck in your colon that needs to be flushed out. Eat a balanced diet and you'll be fine.

I did it once and caught a cold so never again.
You're joking, right? Not about catching a cold, but about catching if from a colon cleanse. It's possible you caught the cold from the person performing the cleanse. But not from the cleanse itself, that's impossible.
