If you haven't done so already, it won't be long before you will be filing your 2016 tax return.

Anybody here tried the CRA's Auto-fill feature?

Have not. For the past few years I have used Studio Tax, which is a free download and links right in to the CRA website to submit your taxes.

No need to pay for tax software.

Yes, I use Studiotax as well.

For what it is worth, I spoke to a CRA officer on the phone last week and she said that all I have to do is use "MY Account" to input the raw data in Auto-Fill and and the CRA will prepare my tax return.

We use it for our clients

We download slips from CRA, last year RRSP information was not always available on time and there could be an issue if some files a T4 late

Over all positive experience

I prefer a purchased software (like TurboTax) that is one notch or so below more expensive and exclusively professional software (like Cantax or TaxPrep).

I used it last year with studio tax. Very easy and simple if you do not have any complicated staff.

Do you mean that you have to use Auto-fill in conjunction with a real tax prep software like Studiotax? In that case, I might as well just go with Studiotax and avoid involving Auto-fill.

You can use any software the Auto-fill is an optional function. You can still manually fill out in any software.
