Fury as Lee Rigby killer seeks £20,000 in compensation after losing two teeth in prison
Michael Adebolajo, who butchered Rigby on the streets of Woolwich, claims the taxpayer owes him compensation.
The killer lost two teeth after lashing out at officers who were trying to escort him from his cell at Belmarsh prison in July 2013.
The 31-year-old's teeth came loose after he smashed his head against a window.
Police were suspended during a six week investigation but were eventually cleared before returning to work.
But Adebolajo has now hired a lawyer to pursue a compensation claim for around £20,0000, which Rigby’s mum Lyn has branded “blood money”.
She told the Sun: “This is the last person on earth who deserves compensation.
“You can replace broken teeth but you can’t bring back the life of my treasured boy.”
Lyn, of Middleton, Greater Manchester, added: “It’s almost as if he revels in the limelight of his heinous crime and has no remorse or shame for what he has done.
“Like many killers, he seeks to psychologically control the victims of his crime by toying with our emotions – but we won’t be dragged down again.”
Adebolajao was sentenced to life behind bars in 2014 after it was ruled he had "no real prospect of rehabilitation".
After his attack on Fusilier Rigby, he was filmed boasting about the attack on his mobile phone.
The ministry of defence has released a statement which read: “The public will be rightly outraged at the thought of this man receiving compensation from the taxpayer.
