As a professional truck driver, there was a problem with the rear wheel that a truck driver tried to tell the bus driver about.

When I am waved into the dreaded inspection station that is the number one thing they look for. Poor inspection by mechanic and driver. Sounds like lug nuts on the wheel had snapped. In Canada, the company would be shut down and safety records checked and a forensic done on the bus. No excuse for such a mechanical failure , esp for a public bus. I had a lug nut snap but fortunately caught it during morning inspection. Wheel offs happen a lot less since a crack down on them, still I had no way to know bolt had snapped so I do not consider it my fault and was quite fortunate I caught it in time. Bolts get stretched when too much pressure is applied by air gun so I have learned and insist mechanics tighten with calibrated hand wrench. I changed all the lugnuts on my truck.

thats unbelievably tragic, even worse is that they were young students...imagine the parents right now....shame on that company that owned the bus , I hope they pay dearly.....
