I just started playing with 4K video and gaming a few months ago. I'm still learning, but have had to get around a few gotchas. I'm currently using 5Kplayer, but I had no problems with VLC. Are you running the latest version (I believe the latest was upgraded to better support 4K UHD as well as 8K)? I have read there is problems with choppy playback, is that what you mean by "lagging"? I'm a big fan of Media Player Classic (with K-lite codec pack) and it has 4K playback, so I plan on trying it next.

Some gotchas:
- Watch the interface you are using on your PC/monitor. Displayport is best, depending on your HDMI version, you may be limited in FPS or resolution (HDMI 2.0 supports 60FPS 4K, 1.4 is 30FPS which is okay for video, but not for gaming.)
- If using Displayport, make sure you are using a DP 1.2 cable.
- If using HDMI 2.0 make sure you are using a "high speed' HDMI cable.
- If you are planning on using NetFix, you need Windows 10 to be able to have PlayReady 3.0

BTW, "Pentium" is just a brand name for entry/mid-range processors. Your entry-level G4500 CPU is sufficient according to Tom's Hardware with it's built-in graphics chip (530) to drive 4K videos even without the NVIDIA 1050. Not so good for gaming, but that's where your 1050 will perform.

How do you like your monitor? Do you find the Windows icon a little fuzzy?

Thanks guys for the info!

Promo: Yes choppy is a good way of describing of what is happening.

I'll give Media Classic Player a try

I'm using the Displayport along with the cable that came with the Monitor.

I'm also considering NExtflix once i get this 4k playback sorted out.

I'm loving the monitor so far, still very clear when watching 720 and 1080 movies.
No issues with the icons.

The only knock i have is with the power button as it is location on the back near the bottom left of the monitor.
It's a little annoying at times.

It's going to depend on what type of files you're watching. Hardware accleration isn't going to help if it's encoded with h265 or 10 bit. Also VLC player may not be using
hardware acceleration either. Look in the settings and make sure you're using hardware decoding. If you're not using hardware assisted decoding and it's just software,
that cpu isn't going to cut it for 4k.
