The race for #1 in the World Rankings is pretty interesting. By the end of the month, any one of 6 players could be ranked #1 in the world.

Day, Mcilroy, Johnson, Stenson, Matsuyama, Speith.
2 American, 2 European and 2 World.

With his win today, Dustin Johnson ascends to #1 in the world for the first time in his career. With his extreme length and yet accuracy off the tee. and a game from 100-150 yards that his improved from a weakness to one of the best on the tour, this is not that much of a surprise.

Johnson's rise to #1 is much more of the classic path to #1 than what we had seen in recent years. Young guys like Jordan, Rory, and Day reached #1 at a young age -- as did Tiger Woods. But the majority of the players that reached #1 did it close to 30 or in their 30's -- Westwood, Donald, Vijay Singh, Duval... most of the players Pre-Tiger.

One player who never reached #1 in the world - Phil Mickelson.

DJ absolutely crushed the field I'm happy for him. He didn't let that collapse at the 2015 U.S. Open fuck his game up. Had a great 2016 and now a good start in 2017.

Adam Hadwin can guarantee 2018 card with solid finish but if he gets second or better he'll get into top 64 and the Match Play! He's having himself a solid start this year and with Hearnsie and DeLaet having not so great years, it's good to see Taylor, Hughes and Hadwin backing them up!

Playing very solid. Up by 3.

I don't have him in the top 64 after this week with a 2nd place finish. I calculated around 67. But with people not showing 67th may get him in. A tie for 2nd would not be enough.

But even better would be a win which would put him in the low 50s. Once you get into the top 50 you can get into almost any tournament you want including the majors

He would qualify for Augusta.

Great round, Adam! Solidly in the fairway and draining putts long and of the must make types! Now he has to close it out and that would be priceless!

Turns out even if he qualifies for match play, will not play as he's getting married on the Friday and if he wins the honeymoon is postponed as he'll play the Masters! It's funny how pro golfers plan weddings around majors if they think they're not good enuff!

Go get 'em Adam and good luck!

That was tense. He really only had one bad hole with the drive on 16. Cantlay played very well, but it is a game of mistakes and he made his on 18.

Congrats to Hadwin.

Yes he is definitely in the masters. But he is #51 after the win. Just has to keep playing fairly well to stay in the top 50. Top 50 gets you into British, us open, and all wgc events

Hadwin is really in the zone. But so is Kisner. And don't discount Rory from a Sunday surge. Great course I can't believe the amount of water. I think I'd shoot a 150+ on this easy.

Hadwin must be resetting goals! Solid finish today will get him to a solid Tour Championship spot even if rest of season is not the same quality as now. Pushing for Prez Cup spot and about to get ball and chained to boot! Hope he can produce another solid today!

6th place finish. Solid finish moves up to #44 in the world. If he can maintain that his schedule totally chamges.

He is actually 5th in the world in terms of total world rank points earned since January 1.

Congrats to Ben Silverman who won a webcom event yesterday which will give him enough money to earn a PGA tour card for 2017/2018. Right now it seems like at least 4 Canadians will have a chance to earn a card via the playoffs or perhaps with a good finish get in the top 25 and a earn a card that way. Sloan, Connors, Svensson, and possibly Albin Choi.

Big week for David Hearn. He is #121 so if he misses the cut, he would likely lose his full card and only have partial privileges next year.

Also for bead fritsch who at 205 needs probably a top 30 to get in the top 200 which will at least get him in the playoffs to earn a card. Finishing out of the top 200
Is a disaster because it means you lose standing on even the web com next year.

Hearnsie has has a tuff time stringing four rounds together this year. Make the cut and make your year is one tuff proposition but David is no stranger to the situation. Wish him the best as he deserves to stay in the big leagues. Fritsch, on the other hand, has already dabbled in broadcasting (TSN majors) so he knows where his game is at!

Delaet still chip yipping but had a solid end to the season including that great weekend last week. My dark horse to sneak into Tour championship. Adam needs to stay consistent to solidify his spot in TC and Most importantly, the presidents cup.
He's in 4 way battle for last 2 spots with Vegas, Tanihara and Grillo. Not sure if Pricey wud pick him as a cap'schoice so he shud try to avoid that! Hughsie plays well and he cud be in TC too. Nick's had a solid year and good playoff run will get him top 70 and guaranteed events.

Along with the web boys (thanks mo for update) and Ben coming thru and the ladies (Brooke and Alena with solid years, Maude Aimee still possibly breaking thru, strong Symetra group with James et al), only hole we've had is no Canadian showing on McKenzie loop. But a great year so far and more to come still! Solheim on weekend to begin a month of golf immersion.....

Hearn made the cut, but finished 66th. A handful of players Belwo him did well and he finished #128 and loses his card. Can still regain it via the web.com playoffs. He would have needed to be in the T42 position (or 4 shots better) to squeeze in.

Frits has also made the cut and played the first 2 rounds quite well. But a 50th place position did not get him into top 200.
