The Beneluxians are getting used to a new central midfielder. Pellegrini gets better with each game he plays, Roma now has the option of starting Nainggolan as a trequartista again. That's what Spaletti (now Inter's coach) did last season. Barcelona picked the wrong forward last summer, I'll take Gerson over Dembele.

Just prior to the match with Qarabag Baku, Gl'Americani owners of Roma got the news that they could break ground on the Stadio della Roma in February.

After the environmental and archeological assesments, the Lazio Regional Government muddied the waters for over two years. It was a joke since almost half the population of Lazio live within the municipality of Rome. James Palotta's threat to sell the club and UEFA President Infantino's intervention got the ball rolling. The area chosen is dilapidated with a Mussolini era horse race track (closed since the late 90's) occupying the space. Situated on the main highway from Fiumicino and Rome, it will keep opposing clubs barbarians from sacking the Old City (Feyenoord fans).

The other Ventura has returned to action: Black Jack Bonaventura.

His arrival is too late for the Azzurri but his presence may be enough to salvage Ac Milan's season. He came off the bench two weeks ago and has since scored 3 goals in his last two games. With all the money spent, he's still Da Man for the Rossonieri. His return means the Turkish stiff Calhanohglu sits on the bench, he has a lovely touch on the ball but he plays like Ted Nugent - Hopkins. Black Jack was injured last Christmas and both Milan and the Azzurri went into the doldrums. Not sure if he qualifies for the Europa League, if I were Gennarino I would use him only league play. he's far too valuable to risk on a nothing tournament.

Has Mario Balotelli cleaned up his act? He scored the winning goal against Nantes to move Nice closer to a CL spot. So far he's racked up 9 goals with minimal distribution. Whomever the new manager of the Azzurri is, he going to get consideration. provided he stops wearing his asshole on his sleeve.

Europa League, knouckout round of 32, draw of the round: Borussia Dortmund vs Atalanta

Don't understand how a club can win their group and get a CL drop down? Even if Dortmund win the tie they will be too beat up to progress further. With the pace of their midfielders and their two giant strikers (Petagna, Cornelius), the Bergamasci will punish opposing defenders. Forza Atalanta!

You should, I will.

Verona 3 Ac Milan 0

Moise Kean appears to be coming out of his funk. He's the first potential superstar born this century. He didn't take it well when Juve loaned him out to Verona. He needed playing time which he may not have gotten at Juventus. He and Mbappe will dominate the next decade.

El Classico Saturday morning Dec 23 7am I may get up
Real Madrid (Orcs) 0 - 3 FC Barcelona (Fellowship)

At the beginning of the clásico, a huge banner was unfurled at the south end of the ground welcoming a “White Christmas”. At the end, it was the handful of Barcelona fans high in the opposite stand who celebrated. Way below, their players applauded back, marking a victory whose consequences will be profound: theirs will be happy holidays. Their coach, Ernesto Valverde, insisted that the league is not yet won and Real Madrid’s Zinedine Zidane said the same, but goals from Luis Suárez, Lionel Messi and Aleix Vidal carried the Catalans 14 points ahead of their biggest rivals.

Don are you at all concerned that business is leaving Barcelona? AXA is moving to Bilbao, strictly a political by the French Insurance Company to appease the Basques on both sides of the border, and Goldman Sachs is moving to Madrid.

Barcelona have benefited from a new manager - not Valverde. Last month Udinese brought in an inexperienced manager: Massimo Oddo. They have been undefeated since. As a player he was not a regular on the Azzurri, but in 2007 he gave CR7 a football lesson. Barcelona paid attention, I still remember Puyol doing the same thing.

You hit the nail on the head Phil, Napoli took off after their point man (Milik) got injured. Ac Milan should be set up the same way, Kalinic is too slow to play a diamond. Coutrone and Silva should be up front with either Kassie or Bonaventura as the trequartista, then they'll start winning again.

Napoli have only won the Scudetto twice, and that was because Maradona carried them.
It would be nice if Napoli won the title again this year. I'm pulling for them

Inter Milan want to bring in Lazio Dutch defender Stefan de Vrij. The 25-year-old was expected to put pen to paper on a new deal in the Italian capital but it's not materialised just yet and his current contract expires this summer meaning he's able to talk to clubs next month ahead of a free transfer. Luciano Spalletti, the Inter Milan head coach, wants to bolster his defensive options. (Source: Corriere dello Sport)
