I installed windows 10 on my desktop as I knew I would eventually have to with dx12 only being available for Windows 10. Figured I might as well get used to it.

I may be in the minority but I like win10. There are a few features like Cortina or how applications are laid out I'm not a fan of. However I've seen a decrease in start up time not only when booting up but applications load up faster.

This was most evident in games such as battlefield 4. When I had win7 it would take sometimes what seemed like an eternity for a map to load. On win10 I beat everyone getting into the start of the game.

While certain things do annoy me with win10, the increase speed on my rig more than makes up for those minor annoyances. After using win10 for a while and liking the experience, I installed it onto my lenovo ThinkPad to the same sort of performance increase.

After upgrading from Windows 7, I find Windows 10 makes everything on my laptop run a bit faster.

Windows 8, however, was (is) an abortion of an O/S (as least user experience and design-wise) and I tried to avoid it like the plague.

I wonder how long it will be until OS1 is released?

It's been almost 2 months since. Any more comments on Windows 10?

P.S. I think the reaction is mixed but generally more negative than positive for a variety of reasons.

The upgrade fucked up my machine royally, making it crash on start-up. After trying to restore Windows 7, through the 'feature' in the upgrade, Windows 7 is no longer authentic. Fuck the upgrade. install from scratch, preferably dual-boot, if possible.

Another thing that pisses me off is that there were very nice features in 7 that were removed for 10, such as Windows Media Center, etc. You need after-market software for the functionality that is lost, for many applications, and sometimes at a price when with 7 it was all free.

I did not "upgrade" to Windows 10 and I think the freebie period has expired. I asked my friend if I could upgrade to Windows 10 and still keep Windows 7 but he said he didn't know how.
