One shot behind world #1 Lydia Ko. with 7 holes to play. Should be some good entertainment for a few hours (Golf Channel)

Sahalee is also a very good and beautiful golf course.

Henderson hits a 35 footer to tie for the lead at the 17th. Ko has a 15 footer to regain the lead on the 16th in a few minutes. Great drama.

Brooke Henderson from Smith Falls Ontario (a town of maybe 10K) about 45 minutes outside of Ottawa wins. Youngest LPGA tournament champion ever and second youngest to win a major.

Youngest LPGA tournament champion ever.
Sorry Mo. Not even close. Ko won at age 15. Brooke is 18 years, 9 months.

Brooke is the youngest ever to win this particular event.

She was 3 down at one point today and shot a bogey free 6 under, including a very long putt for eagle from off the green on 11. Also made some other clutch putts and knocked her approach to 18 inches on the 1st playoff.

I gotta say I am very proud of her as a Canadian. She seems like a much more genuine, down to earth person than Bouchard can ever dream to be.

I never said an LPGA event nor an LPGA tournament. I said the LPGA tournament -- I guess I should have clearly said the LPGA Championship. Although given that it is a major I figured it was implied.

Yes there have been a few that have been younger to win a regular event - Ko, Henderson herself, and Lexi Thompson that I know of.

You are correct she represents her xelf quite well on the golf course as a person, and that should make Canada proud.

Here is your quote. No "an" and no "the".

"Youngest LPGA tournament champion ever" can only be interpreted as youngest to win ANY LPGA tournament. Say what you mean and mean what you say.;)

Really. Why don't we look ay exactly what I wrote in that sentence, given that you have conveniently left out the second part of the sentence.

"Youngest LPGA tournament champion ever and second youngest to win a major. "

Given that every major is an LPGA event, and I stated she was the second youngest winner, you somehow still think I believed she was the youngest event winner. Unbelievable.

Maybe if you re-read the sentence, it would make plenty of sense to realize that I was talking about the LPGA as the major event, not the tour. Some terms can be used interchangeably, and when you actually read the entire sentence you can actually determine the context.

And can certainly be proud of the opportunity to let some ass take a cheap shot at Eugenie Bouchard. WTF does this have to do with the fact that you apparently don't like Bouchard? I have no issues with how she has conducted herself and represented Canada.

What ever happened to Michelle Wie, she was supposed to be the female Woods? Hopefully Henderson has staying power, it would be nice to follow an individual sports persons career for the next 15 years and see it flourish. When was the last individual sport cdn athlete we could say that about?

Milos and Genie seem to be stuck where they are, who is this Adam Hadwin golfer, seen his name lately?

Mo and Buster, if u knew shack u'd he doesn't lend much to anything except noise so place on ignore!!

Most compelling 2 1/2 hours of golf! She Eagles 11, bomb on 17, clutch on 18 and then sweetest 7 iron into playoff hole. She and Lydia for the next 10 years will be like Annika and Karrie. LPGA Is great golf to watch. Well done, Brooke! If this was more mainstream, there might have been more watching this than Pens win!!!!

Wine has had injuries galore plus she has the yips some days so another teenage sensation not turn adult sensation. She still plays high level but has lost a lot of traction. Hadwin is part of the Weir effect on Canadian golf, the age group that took his major to heart. He's a solid player and getting better every year. Hadwin, Taylor, DeLaet and Hearn are solid pros at pga level. Bunch of them also gaining experience on Web.com tour. Definitely more depth in golf here in both men's and women's games now than ever before!

And with Brooke at #2 in the world now, I think we get to send four ladies to Rio if we wanted...:canada::tea::applause:

Good take. Just want to correct the last point. We will still only get 2 Canadians. The max a country can get is 4 but they must all be in the top 15 in the world. After that it is just 2 per country.

As for next year it does appear that we will have 4 players return their card, Fritsch has already locked a spot up again from the web.com. And it looks like me may have 4 other Canadians playing in the web.com playoffs trying to get their cards in September.

Hadwin I think has a chance to get to where Deleat has been in a few recent years (2013 and 2014)Not a star, but above a journeyman. Not that there is anything wrong with being a consistent journeyman who earns 1 to 2 million every year like Hearn.

And she had at least 3 bunker saves in the middle of her round as well. It was just clutch shot after clutch shot. It was really compelling one on one battle. I was stunned that Ko missed the putt on 17.

That 95' eagle she made was just magical, and all those par saves were just clutch! I really thought Ko would pull it out in the end, before the playoff, but she missed that short birdie putt. I was pulling for Ariya Jutanugarn, but she finished third.

I watch the LPGA more than the men's game. Brooke has the game, looks and charm to be a superstar here. I think since Wie never really took off, Brooke could be the face of women's golf in N. America. I really believe they want a non-Asian star to sell here, and Brooke has all the right tools to be that person. Having a young pretty white golfer sells much better here, than an Asian one, who might not even speak English well. For example how many causal fans know of Lydia Ko or Inbee Park. Park just became the youngest female golfer, inducted in the hall of fame.

Another example is Paige Spiranac made the cover of Golf Digest, while World's #1 Lydia Ko has never been on the cover.

Paige may be a good golfer one day, but she is a nobody on the tour now!

Women's golf is a tough sell in NA, so much sporting competition, plus I don't think American fans will warm up to Henderson, they like their own, most countries do, we do.

I think if Wie panned out she would have taken womens golf in NA to new levels, tall, attractive, when was the last really attractive good female golfer, sounds shallow but it's true. Remember Jan Stephenson.

America fans and sponsors will have no problem warming up to Brooke! Just look at Maria Sharapova, she had many endorsements in America. Plus many Americans are just ignorant of how many stars are really Canadian, and really don't care. Americans love winners and pretty faces, they will eat her up.

I agree, Michelle Wie could've taken it to greater levels, if she had more success. I remember Jan Stephen and Natalie Gulbis, another pretty face, without the game of Brooke. Brooke is going to be a very, very rich and famous person, from both sides of the border.

I disagree with Sharapova, her sponsorships are worldwide, Americans hardly identify with her even though she's lived in the US since age 6. Henderson is a pretty girl but doesn't play the sex symbol roll like others do. Muricans won't follow her as much on a Sunday if shes on the leader board, are theRe any good female murican golfers now, don't follow it.

Don't ever see her doing those swim suit photo shoots like many of the tennis players, but have any golfers done those. A lot depends on her staying power, look at spieth and macelroy, once they start not winning their names aren't mentioned as much.

Was steve Nash ever as big as curry, same stats pretty much.
