I thought the first star war movies were good. The later ones are for children and morons. I watched one of the old ones again and realized that it was pretty bad too. Maybe we thought they were good because we were younger and the technology of the movie making was so good. They are all really formulated hollywood drivel.

Definitely Star Trek, the themes go beyond civil war and slaughter. Star Wars is a bleak hollow franchise that's run its course, Disney wont admit this, they're milking it for all the profit they can make. Granted the Trek films are not very good, only The Shaft of Khan and First Contact are worth watching.

The best science fiction films (imho): The Day The Earth Stood Stilll (1951) and The Quiet Earth. The later influenced Danny Boyle's sci-fi films, you can see it in 28 Days Later and Sunshine. Geoff Murphy, TQE, filmmaker took the premise from Rod Serling.

Star Wars = Mysticism
Star Trek = Science

I like both but Star Trek is just better written and has more content.

Jar Jar Abrams has killed them both.

The last Star Wars was awful.

The last 2 Star Trek movies were awful (especially the last one done by the director from the Fast and the Furious where they just turned Star Trek into a lowest common denominator action movie). Such is the economic reality of making hugely expensive movies these days I suppose.

But if I had to pick one, it's Star Trek all the way.

Ok...
How about Star Trek versus Star Wars? Who would win? Kirk vs. Skywalker...
If The Borg assimilate a Jedi...can The Borg then use The Force?

I wrote a Star Trek script of my own, about the planet Risa getting taken over by a race of succubi.

Hell ya, wasting Idris Elba's talents is unforgivable. That film was such a nothingburger, I can't remember the name of it. The worst film is The Final Frontier, the idea was solid the execution was something you squeeze out in the morning.

The Shaft of Khan. Is that the one were Ron Jeremy is the Romulan but didn't need any makeup?

Excellent idea, Captain Hedgehog goes to Risa with a ticket from Kirk. He thinks he's hooking up with Penny Morgan but she is a succubus in the form of the sexy porn star. He's trapped for years, when he finally escapes he swears vengeance on Kirk. Roooooooonnn!!!!

It doesn't get much better than that, or does it?

The question needs to be asked: Star Trek survived without The Great Shat, can Star Wars survive without Harrison Ford?

Harrison Ford's big break. He was damn good in Francis Ford Copolla's The Conversation, the famed director's most under-rated film.

I can't believe this is even a debate

Original Star Trek sucks
Next Generation was ok
The new stuff rots

Original Star Wars was ok (very overrated by boomers though)
Prequels suck
New stuff is ok (so long as you turn off your brain just don't think about those massive plotholes)

Like both, but Star Trek is better. Great characters - Kirk, Spock, Scotty, Bones, Uhura, Sulu, Chekov, etc
