I know what you mean but .... He is Jr A hockey player and has one more season to go and so why does he have a agent anyway ...
Kids now have agents as soon as they come out of the womb.

I saw John play in the OHL semi finials he didn't show up at all, he didn't even compete, however he may of been injured. He could go play pro hockey in europe once he turns 18. He cannot be drafted by a NHL team until june 2009 draft.

Seems all isn't so rosey in The "Shwa" these days. Scouts all gone, GM may be next, an owner who wants to run the team. What's next - are we going to hear that JT wants out?

rumour was that he was playing injured but he really wasnt a factor at all in thier last two rounds. I saw a few games over those series and the only time you noticed him was when he was falling on the ice. He looked really lazy (hopefully a nagging injury) and slow out there. Cant imagine he has all of a sudden lost interest. As far as needing an agent? Of course he does. Hes going to making a mint and needs preplanning and direction. Did you hear about the gr 8 basketball player in the states that was offered a scholarship to Kentucky ( i think it was) now THAT is scarey

I've seen him play. At the end of thr game you say "never saw him" check the recap and he got 3 points. He is not a Sid/Eric. He does not dominate a game. Think more Brett Hull. I don't think you build a team around him; he is icing on the cake.
yes but he wasn't like that in the playoffs. he had one big game with 3 or 4 assists but that really was it. He is a guy that just always seems to be at the right place at the right time and sees the play ahead of time. From what I have seen he is a weak/slow skater, but if you isolate on him and just watch him away from the puck he looks a bit lost but then ends up at the perfect spot. Calculating Id say. thats impressive. Id like people to allow him to carve his own niche instead of having to compare him to others. I think he's got a bit of alot of skills and maybe lacking in others. Hard to say and not too fair to label a guy at such a young age

I can say I saw both of these players play. They are\were both talanted goal scorers. Lee was probably a better skater but Tavares will have a better NHL career. Tavares is going to set the record, Hunter doesn't need him to be on the ice for over 1 1/2 minutes of a power play with a six goal lead.

Any other junior hockey fans out there been following this kid's career in the OHL? The numbers he is putting up for a kid his age are amazing. 45 goals as a 15 year old. Just think too, he is not NHL draft eligible until 2009.

Here is a recent story about him from the Toronto Star.

To think when posting and reading this thread that he would be a Leaf one day .

Brian Burke finally got his wish. Being of South European heritage, family is important to Tavares. That was the major part of his "from the heart" decision. We got lucky, had the Isles not moved to Brooklyn he would have remained with the team. That was a disaster, the Isles had very loyal fans in Hempstedt County and they had their team taken away from from them.

He'll play even better for the Leafs, he's getting home cooking.

Interesting how people can see different things while watching the same game.

I go to a lot of Generals games and I think he is overrated.

He collects a lot of points, but anything he excels at happens within 6 feet of the net. He has quick hands, can take advantage of the shoddy defensive coverage in the OHL, can get the puck up quickly at close range, and is a skilled shot tipper.

However, he is completely useless away from the net. He is slow. He is not a strong puck possession stickhandler. He has a mediocre shot. He is a defensive liability. He does not bodycheck.

In other words, he looks pretty good on the end of a pass near the net, jumping on a rebound, or tipping a shot, and is invisible the rest of the time.

I don't see him being any better player than Yanic Perreault.
Glad you were wrong. ;)

This is great news for the Leafs. So strong down the middle now. Now if we can pick up a good solid D then this team is going to be so difficult to play against. I think with the addition of Tavares and the other talent on this club, you now have a much better chance of attracting top players.

If you think Bud was wrong with Tavares, you should see how wrong he usually is in the politics forum.
