Your Effort

Hey Fred,

Just wanted to say I really appreciate the effort you put into this so far. I always play the same numbers and ended up looking for a common number from both sets that I play to see it has never come up yet in the numbers you have here.

Look at the numbers for 1995/1996 -
someone playing all of them would have got 4/6 maybe twice or x3 last night:
6/8/1996 5 15 40 41 45 49
13/12/1995 7 15 20 23 40 49

I'm trying to add this list to a database!
Sorry, I got distracted, send me your email address and I will send you the Excel file or better still, the link where you can d/l the entire database in Excel format.

Go to OLGC.ca. They tell you the frequency of each number coming up in draws. Looks like higher numbers are historically more likely.

sorry to burst your bubble fellas, but it's completely random...

if it appears that certain numbers or certain patterns of numbers seem to repeat, that is accounted for by simple probability.

might not be what you want to hear, but i don't know how you could believe otherwise.

Precisely..I think everyone knows that. The idea is to select a GROUP of numbers that hopefully contains the good numbers ---say 18. Once you have that,
there are computer programs that will generate combinations for your chosen set
of numbers, with minimum gurantees of 4 or 5 or 6 numbers correct.

It's much easier to find a sample of 18 numbers that contains 6 correct numbers than it is to guess 6/49 correctly.

So, by REPEATED sampling - assuming you have the financial resources, you may eventually be able to draw a winning sample.

So you can still do well DESPITE the randomness of the lotto numbers!
Btw another thing ----most of the time all the winning #s are drawn from within the last 10 draws.

The randomness of lotto numbers actually refers to the long-term.
In the short-term the patterns are not truly random, some patterns repeat more than others.

Stang's right....for 6-49...out of the 15 most prevalent numbers drawn, only 1 would be found on the left side of the Roulette bet (1-18)...14/15 of the most frequently drawn numbers are 19 and above. I would believe coincidence, however that stat is quite compelling. 18/20 numbers (90%) are 19 and up.

Having said that, I remember being in charge of the company lottery draws. I would pick 1-2-3-4-5-6 as one of the lines, to which this geeky stat guy would always argue that the likelihood of this permutation coming out is a lot less. I vehemently disagreed, telling him every permutation has an equal probability of coming out if it is purely random. Regardless, I would buy tickets in other draws like this as well...with the dream that I'd be on the front of the newspaper as the newest millionnaire headlined "1-2-3 guy does it!!!". In May of '99, the Lottario draw was 1-2-3-4-5-33. I had the ticket for 5 out of 6. That's when I realized my system was a waste of time. I thought I'd have to go downtown to claim my 5 out of 6'er. Turns out, there were hundreds of winners, and we each got I think $40. It made me think that the hundreds of other winners did the same thing as I did, so if it did come out from 1-6, I'd have to share my jackpot with over 100 other morons out there who think the same way I do! You are much better picking random numbers then doing a pattern that someone else will think of as well.

In regards to prevalency, I do notice the #23 coming out quite often for ALL draws...that number is HOT. Perhaps Jim Carrey had something going with that number after all...

cheers.

yeah - it seems numbers ending in 3 have been quite prevelant the last
couple of weeks, but I have also found that some numbers are quite HOT until I start playing them then they turn stone cold..lol

oooo shit i found a pattern!!
all the numbers...
range from 1 to 47..
now use this knowledge and buy a winning ticket! good luck to all!
the good thing is the range from 1 to 47, the bad thing is we never know which 6 numbers will pick up from the range.

on saturdays draw i played 2 tickets 2 lines each ticket ... ALL #S WERE SELECTED BY ME -- NO QUICK PICK...

on the 1st line of each ticket i got 3/6

DIFFERENT #'s

kind of amazing, on if i were to "box" 12 #'s == i hit...

i know if my aunt had nuts shed be my uncle...woulda coulda shoulda...Its just the closest i have ever been on such a small selection of tickets..

Ah well.. The #'s were 16 17 25 27 35 40

Another thing I notice in almost EVERY draw is that you will ALWAYS have 2 numbers that are consecutive such as 16 17... or 3-4, or 38 39 42 43...Etccc... I see it SO OFTEN...

I think there are almost as many consecutive pairs in 649 as there are Lotto numbers so picking the correct consecutive pair is still quite a challenge.
But good luck tomorrow anyway, cuando.

the combination 1-2-3-4-5-6 has a lexographic value of one,
then 1-2-3-4-5-7 a value of 2 and so on until you reach 44-45-46-47-48-49 with a value of 13,983,816.
It just puts order in all combinations.
And a formula can calculate this value in no time.
now let say we print out all 13,983,816. combinations and highlighted all the already drawn ones.
that would leave us with the ones that has not yet.
then we remove all consecutive of 6s and 5s and the skip 1s and 2s as well as 3s
this way we would be condensing the remaining combinations.
Here is the distribution I have for numbers in a 6/49 lottery. For each number (from 01 to 49), it lists how often the number shows up in each position (from P1 to P6).

01: 1,712,304 in P1 -- 0 in P2 -- 0 in P3 -- 0 in P4 -- 0 in P5 -- 0 in P6

49: 0 in P1 -- 0 in P2 -- 0 in P3 -- 0 in P4 -- 0 in P5 -- 1,712,304 in P6

Some information is obvious: no #1 in P2 or #49 in P5 and so on.
But if you add up numbers on a line, the total is always the same: 1,712,304.
And if you add up numbers per position, the total is always the same: 13,983,816.

So basically, what you are saying is that no matter what 6 numbers I choose next draw, the odds will still be 1 in 13,983,816.

Thats right, no matter what numbers you pick the chances of winning are 13,983,816 and its purely random.
So it doesn't matter is the numbers have been choosen before or not. It doesn't matter if you pick numbers that come up a lot or ones that come up never.

By the way the most popular number choosen by players is 7, and there is absolutely no evidence that 7 is a lucky number because its neither won more often or less often than any other number.

The least commonly selected numbers are 40 and 39.
