I think I'll wait. Bought an original XBOX for $499 only to see it drop several months later to $199. PS3 will blow away the competition and the prices will fall. Time will tell but I will not jump in early this time.

from what I have heard, the PS3 is supposed to be better...however, Microsoft is planning on releasing Halo 3 at the same time that comes out for obvious reasons...its probably better to wait, unless you're a video game freak...

You've been listening to the fanboys.

In a year......maybe (latest outlook is next fall). If they cant build something better (once again, in a year) something is wrong.

Both are using the PPC processor from IBM that is in the present Mac G5s only Sony is adapting it to a new cell technology with multiple processors working as one on one board including a multi processor graphics card.
The big thing is the PS3 is really really hard to develop for so you will not see the full performance from it out of the box and probably not until close to end of life. XBox will be running right out of the box with top of the line games.
I dislike MS in their practice of selling lo grade operating systems but they definitely have a winner with the 360.
I won't buy a PS3 until well after their release.

Don't forget Nintendo Revolution.....

Once again Nintendo has come out with the most innovative controller of the three consoles.....

The Nintendo 64 controller was one of the best controllers ever!!!!!! :)

yet you're pumped about a WRESTLING game?

If any platform is for kids, its the Nintendo line...and besides, would you turn down a FREE XBox 360?

the war between the next gen systems will be real interesting, will MS be able to break the close to fanatical loyalists that Sony has built over the past 10 years with the Playstation? Will the new Xbox live up to its reputation and some are saying this early release is just too early, they wanna make up for their last release a whole year after the PS2 where Sony already had a strangle hold on the market.

As for the markets they serve Nintendo is clearly going after the young market just check out their titles, I havent gone near a Nintendo system ever since the 16 bit days and I am in my early 30's now.

If anything,the majority of the games that where being displayed at XBox '05' are not geared towards children.

every console whether it's PS ,XBox ,Nintendo alll have games for kids. I've been doing XBox events since the launch in 2000 and every event is geared towards young adults.

we are in the works with microsoft to construct underground gamming facilities where one can win a day of gamming in secret locations around the city.

The propeganda war continues - LOL
neither system is significantly better than the other each has its own stronger points but nothing that would warrant "knock sox off"

If anyone is new to the game out there and trying to decide what to buy you may want to ignore the game selection and hardware driven gameplay (as it is a virtual saw off) and consider who make each

PS3 = SONY
XBOX = Microsoft

Sony is going through a very tough time financially not only have they stopped growing but last month they laid off 10 000 workers.
Microsoft - well they are microsoft nuff said.

I bought an Xbox when it first came out, but I'll be going for the PS3 next. Even if Sony's drive choice doesn't win the format war (and so be a general purpose high definition DVD player, which would be nice), it will have lots more capacity for games. 1080P will provide much better video down the road too.

The reason I give up on the 360 is the lack of backwards compatibility (except for poorly defined top-sellers I probably don't care about). If it doesn't play the existing games, it's practically not an Xbox. Therefore, going for a system with a huge library (with a clear commitment to backwards-compatility) makes the PS3 my choice at this point.

It will only play some XBOX games. Presumably it needs the hard drive to store modifications developed specifically for those games. Older & obscure titles are almost certainly out of luck since the new box doesn't emulate the old one.

Given Microsoft's experience in the PC world where backwards compatibility has always been essential, I'm very surprised and disappointed that they'd take this stance.

It's all about making you buy the 360 version so they can squeeze more money outta your pocket ... just like putting old movies onto DVD format ...

The launch titles don't impress at all for the 360. Elder scrolls has been pushed back to feb and most xbox games you can get on the PC at the same time as ps2 games. PS3 all the way. Nintendo is going to become like sega soon.
