Don't mean to be skeptical, but a Yahoo! email address?

The scammers aren't even trying anymore.

You'll forgive me if I'm a bit put off by a vague request to "contact me at miscellaneousemail@easilyobtainedpublicemailhost.com about a financial matter".

If that doesn't sound fishy, I don't know what is. Now if you forgive me, I have a bank draft to send to Muhato Obigwai in Nigeria. I'll buy you a coffee with some of the $15 million I'm getting for helping him out.

Sheesh.

What email should I use? if it was Rogers would you call it a scam. This is not a scam. If someone from Terb admin wishes they can contact me for an explanation. It's regarding,

Money is not being solicited.
I own some of these but why should I call you versus my broker? Who are you affiliated with? I guess my hesitation in contacting you is your email address is a yahoo versus a 'real' work address. i.e. @agf.com

I also don't think that this guy works for AGF.

Maybe a law firm?
Why wouldn't his email address be "@somelawfirm.com".

I don't know many reputable law firms that use @yahoo.ca email addresses.

thx, weekly, for bringing it to our attention. Market timing was/is a big scandal in the US. What pisses me off most is that they rely on the average Canadian to keep feeding these funds with preaching dollar cost averaging and other BS schemes. While the big guys are in and out like vultures and make a killing.

To make any half decent money stick to buy low sell high. If you don't have the stomach for that pay off your mortgage.

Please contact me minnie if you can via pm or by email. A name and number will be provided to those who hold or held any of the AGF funds mentioned. I am not a broker. I am an outside consultant to a highly regarded lawyer who is pursuing a case against AGF and other fund companies on behalf of investors who were harmed by market timing practices. I am not comfortable posting the name of the law firm on the open forum. I'm here and on other forums to raise awareness. Sukdeep is correct in his assumption that I'm not getting much help from the broker community yet. Terbites, your support is appreciated.

Past or present unitholders of funds mentioned in this article can also contact me. Thanks.

Will do minnie. I don't need that information 1-5. All I'm trying to do is refer people to the lawyer who will explain the case in greater detail. There is no cost or obligation for anyone to participate. If a case is filed it will be on a contingency basis meaning the lawyer covers all costs win or lose. The goal is to recover some funds for investors and deter wrongdoing in the future.

This is the case I was working on

Mutual fund companies that allowed “market timing” trades face a class-action lawsuit organized by a Toronto law firm specializing in such litigation.

Rochon Genova LLP said Wednesday the claim filed in Ontario Superior Court names IG Investment Management Ltd., CI Fund Management Inc., Franklin Templeton Investments Corp. and AGF Funds Inc.

The Rochon Genova claim alleges those amounts drastically understate the losses to long-term unitholders caused by market-timed trading — high-speed in-and-out buying and selling of mutual fund units to take advantage of transient price staleness on foreign holdings in other time zones.

The lawsuit states that the management companies breached their fiduciary duties and were negligent in allowing market timing between September 1998 and September 2003.

Mr. Rochon did not specify the amount of damages being sought, but said it would be in the “hundreds of-millions of dollars.”
