Am I alone in noticing that the only female "sexworkers" that
participate on this board are escorts?

I have never patronized an escort but am generally impressed by the level of intelligence, curiosity and compassion that they display in their posts.

The "wider society's" view of escorts is that they are bad or sick people. Strippers enjoy a sort of "naughty but OK" status in the public eye.

What's interesting to me is that strippers in particular are generally in a state of denial about what they do. They would prefer to see themselves as "entertainers" and are quick to
distance themselves from any suggestion of sex for pay.
In my experience, they frequently try to present themselves as somehow superior to their circumstances. Frequently their behaviour shows an extreme dislike of men.

To me the biggest surprise of all is that the escorts on this board actually seem to LIKE men, despite the conventional wisdom that they must all hate their clients.

What's going on here? I'm completely dumbfounded and amazed. Someone please explain this???

I have to wholeheartedly agree with your comments. The strippers that consider themselves "entertainers" and somehow think in a twisted sort of way that even a high mileage dance is still not sex for pay. Of course it is not the same as visiting an escort but where is this fine line crossed. Escorts/MPA/Strippers all work in the same "sex" industry just different departments.

I have come across alot of dancers where they do not let anyone in their "real" world know what they do. I guess the societal stigma is too much for them to handle. This is also true of escorts but as you say many of them do not seem in denial about their work as strippers are.
