Don't get too riled up yet iguana. If indeed cervical cancer is the diagnosis, if it is in the early stages it can be handled very effectively and with few problems. Some times a small section of the cervix is removed, other times a total hysterectomy is done to be certain that no part of the tumor remains.
My wife had the same symptoms as yours and was diagnosed with cervical cancer at 36 years of age. Her gynecologist/surgeon wanted to do a complete hysterectomy for insurance against recurrence but the surgical committee at the hospital refused permission and argued for over a day that he should just remove the lesion. Thank God the surgeon won the argument and there never was a problem again. He left the ovaries so that she did not go immediately into menopause and after a couple of months of healing she was as good as ever.
