The Maple Leafs are far and away Toronto's premier professional sports franchise. But which, in terms of media exposure and fan interest, is no. 2, the Raptors or the Blue Jays?
As memories of the the Blue Jays successive World Series victories become distant, the youthful demographics favour the Raptors. Toronto television audiences are still much larger for the Blue Jays, yet over 60 percent of viewers are over 55 years of age. Both teams attract roughly the same number fans to the venue on game day (although the Raptors do sell out.)
Currently both teams employ reluctant 'almost' superstars in Vince Carter and Carlos Delgato. However, Carter may still emerge as the best athlete to play in Toronto colours.
