Let's hope the truth is at least in the middle. If there are very many people as bent on martyrdom as he describes, we're all in trouble. A disturbing trend of fascination with end of days in religious fanatics as a whole.

..I must admit I am amazed at the number of suicide bombers,3 more today, and that's the Sunnis. An interesting point to ponder as the latest unfolds in the Middle East. Syria , while a Dictaorship is not a Theocracy. Though there are large elements of Funamentalists in the country. If the US attacked Syria the probable outcome would be the Islamist seizing power.

I don't know what to think about this article. While I agree with some of the points the author makes, I think he misinterprets and makes generalizations. He claims that we want them to be like us. That's not necessarily true. The war is about bringing democracy to a region so terrorism can stop breeding. The majority of the people, while hating the West (particularly America) still want freedom and the chance for prosperity, and hopefully they will achieve that someday.
You can get caught up in the hype of martyrdom and religious fanaticism that the author talks about, but the majority of Muslims are not like this. We see the fanatics and the Islamic state representatives talking tough but we don't see or hear from the so called average Muslim - that is until we saw elections in Afganistan and Iraq.

.. I hope your right but the reason we dont hear from the average arab is because ABC does not want to hear as they describe how much they hate the US. The reality is that most Iraquis want the US out.
As in Nam, now that the Iraqui Government forces are growing stronger, the Insurgency will become stronger.

but what nobody understands that there will always be some bored and/or pissed of @$$hole preaching how the west is the devil and we're all corupt.
What we need to do is just let them slaughter each other and if they consider attacking us(the west)we just do what we know best. BOMB

having lived in Russia, i do have some knowledge of this paper the Exile and i can tell you its a major piece of crap of the highest sort in journalism, it is run by a bunch of juvenile like ex pat Americans, who have little knowledge of Russia and extremely little respect for Russian women who they regard as you can read further on as nothing more than objects, a flashback i had was one of their geniuses wrote an article for Playboy saying that Russian women were easy and can be cheated on and still stay faithful to their men, i should it to a Russian female friend of mine who went on to say that he should marry a Russian gal so she can beat the **** out of him everyday

..ya I read some of it, kind of disturbing, however,it doesnt make his observations invalid. I would definitely agree with the premise of the article. Iran is not a can of worms we need to be opening. My fear is Bush and his cronies already think Iraq and Afghanistan are won and now they can continue on to the next project.

Coming from a country <serbia> that was used as target practise for the americans you can assume that i am not a big supporter and fan of U.S.A
but what they are doing in the middle east is partially right depending which side you think is right, all the poeple that were for saddam or the other half against him. regardless my opinion is they should stay out of it and mind their own business before they cause something terrible to happen.

hmmm I suppose that Milosevic and his band of murderers using the Bosnians, Croats and Kosovar Albanians for target practice was ok?

..amazing the difference between reading and hearing the words.

"Syria must also end its occupation of Lebanon"
seems relatively harmless unless you heard Dubya yelling, almost at the top of his lungs those words.
Again I submit, if he attacks Syria, the most likely result is am islamist takeover.

Who's side is this guy on ?

axctually I had to edit, just saw the clip again, he wasnt yelling, still I do think he is going after Syria next.

things only turned bad for the Serbs when they allowed that butcher of the Balkans Milosevic to take power and unleash genocidal wars on his neighbours all in the name of Greater Serbia, and who was it that saved the Bosnians, Croats and Kosovars, well the left will not like this but it was the United States of America

yes some Albanians have done bad things to Serbs in Kosova but only after Milosevic took away the autonomy the province had and began a crackdown on the Albanians living there who make up 80% of the population.
