Probably is a gift to Rove and Jeb but you need to consider what an excellant job he did building a grass roots org and raising cash - and those are his two primary responsibilities.

He'll draw the radical end of the Democratic party - which won't help in the end. Will be fun to watch though - at least he says what he thinks, which I respect, it's just what he thinks is so often wrong.

On to 06

Wait for the release of Howie's scream tape.
Personally i think the "D's" made a mistake by electing him. He is going to turn off some of the moderates.
You're making too big a deal out of it. The head of national committees are chosen for their organizational and fund raising skills, which Dean seems pretty good at. They're not exactly in the lime-light. How many times did the name of the man he's replacing, Terry McAuliffe, come up in the last campaign? Without doing a google search, can you name the current Chairman of the RNC, or even heard of him before? This could actually be a smart move as it gives Dean a chance to do what he's good at, and at the same time keeping him out of another run at the presidency.

I like the fact that the Dems didn't try to come more to the center with a more conservative guy. You need to clearly distinguish yourself from the other side.

I like it as well ;-)

One of Dean's challanges will be that of the 100 fastest growing counties Bush won 97 of them last November.

DQ,

Ken Melham, he sends me an email at least once a week. Your point is valid, it's not a high profile job and Deam will be high profile - the question is, is that good for Democrats.

I was delirious with joy when I read the announcement. Howard Dean, who didn't represent anybody, is now chief banger of the Democrat's koolaid drum. I suppose this signals an end to the Dems wasting time on frivolous discourse on useless topics like electability. A better gift could not have been handed to the Republicans.

Now for Billary. Billary will be hindered, slandered, defamed etc. by Dean's crews of squeegy kids, right up to the primaries. So, the Republican campaign may enjoy a free contribution, perhaps including topics off limits to Rove. Billary will handily win the primaries regardless, easily winning against whatever lunatic Dean's fringe drags from the asylum. The real gain will be from the public spectacle that ensues, much like the debacle associated with The Scream.

It'll just toughen her up from all the lies that the Repub's will tell about her.

That's why Billary is the Republican dream candidate, all one will have to do is examine her Senate record, just like when Cheney bawled out that little chimp in the VP debate. More importantly, I'm sure the party has some dirt on Billary from the investigations of Bubba. Maybe something that wouldn't have hit Bubba, due to Presidential immunity, but something with future applicability to a candidate. Yep, that would be hilarious - Billary called to a grand jury indictment during the campaign :D

The Clinton's are incredible politicians - make no mistake, if you run against them you are in for the fight of your life. All false Provo do aside, Billary scares the hell out of Republicans - why you say, because she could win where almost no other Democrat has a chance. The swing vote in the US is female, how many women would like to see a female president, even if it has to be Hillary. It only takes a swing of 5% to change the result.

The Clinton's have a Teflon persona that we haven’t seen since Reagan. Her bag man is under investigation, she had those funny and successful trades, those billing issues with the Rose law firm, all those shady pardons (paid for by her brother) and none of it sticks. Ever wonder what happened to Vince Foster or with the travel office. The Clinton's have a shit streak a mile long behind them and it never sticks.

If she runs (and we should know in 06 when she has to run for her Senate seat) it will make all US politics to date look like Father Knows Best. It will be the meanest, no holds campaign of campaigns. Republican's are already getting ready for her running, no one else on the Democrats bench worries them at all - it reads like the pitching staff at the Durham Bulls.

Comparisons to an extreme faction of the IRA. Such passes for wit these days.

Does anyone else have the time to explain popular vote and plurality to Peeping Tom, when three or more candidates are in the race? Time for me to go to bed.

In a van down by the river
I have seen Hillary on the state of the union address, she didn't look her usual self. I wonder if her health issues are a little more serious than we know.
I agree with all of you, that she has a legitimate shot.
However i am wondering if the USA is ready for a female president? Elections in general have the tendency to swing from one side to the other. So maybe we are ready?

I wonder if she could pick Bill as her VP?
Would he be the "First gentleman"? or what would be his title.

Wouldn't that be agreat match-up Hillary vs. Condi?

The intern jokes alone would be worth her running. Can't you see Hillary as POTUS and Bill running the UN? You'd have to leave the planet to get away from them.
