Ohhhh Please, give us a break. Focus your mind on the killing and devastation in IRAQ instead of ethics in journalism.

Where is the connection between the two???

You could easily say..let's focus on the death of the Tsunami instead of Iraq??This wouldn't make any sense either.

The connection is that one is trivial, while the other is criminal.

It always amazes me that people would get more upset by a journalists who failed to follow procedure than by politicians who blatantly lie to them and who only listen to that advice which is in keeping with their pre-determined ideas about the way the world works.

I wasn't specifically referring to you Langeweile but it's not difficult to turn to a US news program these days - especially on cable -and hear pundits railing on at the evils of CBS while at the same time defending certain lying polticians. And, in response to your last comment I'd say this: Journalists making mistakes? No...really?

While I can excuse a mistake, hell i make at least one a day, the timing of it was suspicous, at least.

But shit sometimes happens. And, to be fair, if this was not a mistake and was the product of some actual bias it's unfair to accuse these people of bias while not pointing out the bias in other news organizations which claim to be impartial. I'm not excusing this if it is inded not a mistake, I'm just saying that impartiality is much harder to find in the media than the media would lead us to believe.

Perspective from the National Review???????? LOL
I know, I feel the same way about the NY Times and the Guardian. Read the article, it's pretty interesting.

Of course there's a wee bit of perspective on Anne Morse too - evangelical Christian, right wing, anti-gay and a believer in a one single version of the truth.

bbking,

Nice try, find me something this blatant at FOX:

"The producer of the piece, Mary Mapes, was also faulted for calling Joe Lockhart, a senior official in the John Kerry campaign, prior to the airing of the piece, and offering to put Burkett in touch with him. The panel called Mapes’ action a “clear conflict of interest that created the appearance of political bias.

And she rightly got fired over this.
