Your mom's back!!!
Fred this seemed like the best place to post this. If it is not please tell me.

First I am not preaching. Just informing, so that when you play you can be aware of the risks.

Not all of us do. But sometimes for various reason we want to go get tested for STD's

When you go to your doctor for an STD test it is only private if you are clean.

What!

You say I am full of poo. Nope listen up.

As a matter of public health all possible sexual partners (mainly spouses or GF / BF) of a person who is positive for HIV (and I think HPV, Herpes, etc..) will have those people contacted so that they are aware of the risk.
Your doctor has nothing to do with this, it will be done by the lab that does the test. And don't fool yourself this guys are persistent they will not stop until every current possible sex partner (especially spouses) are made aware.

Also even if you test negative (clean and safe) your life insurance will be effected as you now are considered to be in a "high risk" life style. The biggest effect on life insurance is if you are trying to get it for the first time, but in certain circumstances the premium on an existing policy can change.

Now imagine that your premium goes up one day, and you husband or wife decides to investigate. It will only be a matter of time before they find out that it went up do to your risky lifestyle: as evidenced by your STD tests.

This = bad news .

The only way to get around this is to ask your doctor for an anonymous test, where they use numbers to ID you. Or you can go to an anonymous clinic.

Source of information = Friend in 2nd year meds at U of T.

Also last point.

There are things (not HIV) that go through condoms.

HPV (genital warts) No real problem for men, can cause cervical cancer in women. Your wife would not like that. Even if there are no warts person can be contagious.

DO THE RESEARCH AND NOW THE RISKS.

Playing Safe = Playing Longer

Not all Cervical Cancer is caused by HPV... Just as a point in refferance... It can be a factor but is not one of the leading causes. Also with the new instruments and procedures... As long as women go for regular (Once a year) PAP tests... They can catch the cells at an early stage and do a day surgery which takes 20-30 minutes tops... It is not painless but it is very effective! Most of the time this particular type of cancer is not a rapid onset type.

Just wanted to post this info!

Your doctor has nothing to do with this, it will be done by the lab that does the test.

Testing Labs have nothing whatever to do with contact of partners nor can they release any test results to insurance companies.

I have not heard of such contacts being pursued at all for years (it used to be standard practice for syphilis), but if it is still being done, it would be seen as a matter of public health so would be carried out by, and under the authority of, the M.O.H. not by the testing lab.

Actually, most Health Units will do anonymous testing for all STD's. If yours does not guarantee anonymity then when you are asked for the name of your doctor, just say you don't have one, then there is nowhere for them to send any results.

I hope you are not suggesting that if you tested positive for STD's that you would not inform your partners? If your Doctor was to do a cover-up on something such as this, then he would be liable to all kinds of legal and professional actions. Why would you worry about anonymity anyway - your Dr. is bound to keep your records private.
