I was watching The National last night and there was a report on GWB impending visit to Canada in a few weeks. Seems the PMO is uneasy and holding its breath as Mrs. Parrish has once again done some anti-Bush actions. Seems like on the upcoming episode of 'This Hour has 22 Minutes' she squashes a Bush doll with her foot and then pokes it like a vodoo doll. This is causing abit of a stir on the Hill and I am sure it will get bigger once the skit airs Friday night. Anyone see the report? And thoughts of her actions..

The last time this classy lady voiced her opinions I was looking for news reports on any US stations. Even FOX, that doesn't look kindly on Canada, had no reports at all on her.
Why this makes good conversation in Canada i am not sure it get's any play in the USA.

Who in their right mind would care about an MP playing with a doll on a comedy show, when hundred of thousands of people are dying in a war .

Personally I believe she is an example of how 60% of the Canadians feel about the USA.
Sorry, but I have to disagree. I don't care for Dubya one bit, but he deserves respect, if for no other reason than he represents the highest office in the United States. If Parrish doesn't respect the man, then she should at the very least respect the office.

Kids say the damndest things.

It will be interesting to see how Canada acts while the POTUS is in country - could make it a bit hard to ask for trade concessions at the same time an MP is using a Bush voodoo doll. All this silliness might just remind the POTUS why he waited 4 years to come in the first place.

And for the record, I think he was INVITED.

Calling the Americans idiots while our PM at the time was the real idiot was nothing short of disgraceful.
Let me be sure to get this right: we cannot call the president of the US an idiot, because we must have respect for the office he inhabits; but we can call the prime minister of Canada an idiot, because ...

Because he’s only the Prime Minister of Canada….

Just kidding.

We can call him an idiot – he’s our POTUS, but you can’t. Just like you can say your mothers a whore but I can’t.

Sounds to me like she is acting out as a stalker might

She may have "loved" Bush from afar. Upon realizing her unworthiness and resiging to the fact she will never have him; she had done what many stalkers do. Turned to hatefull and now voilent actions. Someone please in this liberal bastion known as Canada, please, help her. Help her before she acts out in a more substacual manner. Get this lady some mental help. She needs to know that while flattered at first, the targets of these nutcases are not going to love them.

I don't think there is anything wrong with "us" calling Bush and idoit. Indeed, I often do. However, Parrish is an MP representing the governing party. I think this makes things a bit different. School yard behaviour by government politicians accomplishes nothing positive and I think is embarrasing.

Parrish does not represent the government, she represents only the voters in a Mississauga riding. (and likely not for long)

Ask PM Martin, if she represents the government of Canada.

She does when it comes to an international forum

Strike three she's out. Pardon my abscence but I just saw on the national post website that Martin canned her. Way to go p.m. p.m.
This is just wrong.
While i don't agree with some of her statements, this is still a free country, were people should be allowed to express their opinion.
Martin is going to get hell for this, and he deserves it.

I don't know the exact comments that she made, but I doubt they qualify as derogatory or racist.
IMO this sends the wrong message about Canada. I am saying this, thinking that she is a b***h and just plain stupid.
However she is an elected MP, her constituancy should decide her faith.

I don't see this as a freedom of speech issue. She will still be a MP and free to say whatever she wants. Nonetheless, a political party also has the right not to be affiliated with someone voicing views that they claim are not representative of their position. As long as she was a liberal MP what is says reflects on the liberal party and they are in their rights to disassociate themselves from her.

From today's news:

"Parrish's cardinal sin appears to have less to do with her repeated, undiplomatic outbursts against the George W. Bush White House than her comments on the prime minister himself.

"If he loses the next election and he has to resign, I wouldn't shed a tear over it," Parrish said Wednesday in an interview with The Canadian Press.

"I have absolutely no loyalty to this team - none."

The liberals should kick her out. No other party would accept this idiot. Well maybe the Bloc.

Time for proportional representation. Instead of keeping liabilities in a party for mere political reasons.

From Rex Murphy's Commentary:

" Miss Parrish occasionally makes the claim that she's extending the debate, that she's standing up to the Americans and all sorts of noble stuff about the right to free speech. I don't know. "Idiots, damn Americans, I hate those bastards," that "22 Minutes" jig, these are words and actions that belong to the classroom show-off, the needy clown, attention getting by means of insult and crude display. They're nothing but "Look at me insulting George Bush and sticking it to the Yanks." It's juvenile, it's smug, and it's vulgar. It will amuse only very limited minds, and it will offend a great number of Americans, even those who do not support George Bush but who don't like to see their head of state derided by second rate comments and third rate stunts by one of our members of Parliament.*
