Increasingly more black Americans approve of the job President Donald Trump is doing, according to Rasmussen polls.

Trump has gained the approval of 35 percent of black likely voters, according to a daily update released by the pollster on Oct. 4.

Rasmussen typically posts results more favorable to Republicans than other pollsters, but even compared to its own numbers, Trump has been garnering more support in the black community.

On Aug. 6, the poll showed 29 percent support for Trump among blacks, up from a mere 15 percent on Aug. 3, 2017.

The Reuters/Ipsos polls have showed a more moderate improvement from 11.3 percent black approval a month ago (Aug. 24 to Aug. 31) to 14.5 percent on Sept. 28 to Oct. 2.

Pitch to Black Voters
Trump has spent considerable time making his case to black America, focusing on “safe communities, great education, and high-paying jobs.”

So far, things are going his way on several crucial metrics.

This is difficult to believe. If Trump has spoken about Black community issues, these speeches have had no coverage whatsoever in the major media. And without that coverage, why would Black voters know or care what he is saying?

And that leaves aside the bigger question that Trump has actually DONE nothing about Black issues. And normally Trump is antagonistic towards Blacks - i.e. the Take a Knee Movement.

So I am calling BS on this poll.

The polls saying that the GOP is suddenly surging with all voters are pretty dubious as well. But at least there is an argument that they are reacting in support of Kavanaugh. With these Black voter polls, there is simply no reason and no argument why Trump's Black support should increase.

This strikes me as a "rally the troops" effort on the part of GOP pollsters to make the party look more presentable for the upcoming mid terms.

To quote Bubba, it’s the economy stupid.

He’s also done a bit of outreach and reminded African Americas that the Dems take them for granted - see the soon to be former mayor of Chicago.

He won’t get to a majority, every 5% helps.

The media never gives him positive coverage. But bloggers, citizen journalists, YouTube vloggers, and the like do. No one of them has huge reach but collectively they reach millions.

And they are telling a different story.

Please also remember that in total all the main news stations combined don't reach 10 million people on their own. But clips repackaged by opinion shapers do.

Great points by OTB and Butler.

If Trump can even get 10 to 15% of the Black vote, he will easily win reelection in 2020 (assuming the economy stays hot).
And if you thought the TDS is bad now, wait till then

Republicans are lucky if they can get even 10% of the black vote. These numbers, if accurate, are truly staggering.

Gotta remember the context, halfway between that last election and the next, with Donny alone in the spotlight. It's not as if these voters were asked, "Who will you vote for, between these two?"

It's only an 'approval rating' and even Twizzlers have one.

Bias GOP Pollster Claims Blacks Increasingly Support Trump

Trump keeps trying to convince people that he’s accomplished great things for African-Americans.

The conservative-leaning Rasmussen Reports claimed that 35 percent of African-Americans approve of President Donald Trump‘s job performance. Through this survey, the politically biased pollster is supporting Trump’s myth that he’s done a lot for Black people.

In a report released on Friday, Rasmussen placed Trump’s overall approval rating at 51 percent among likely voters. “This is Trump’s highest Presidential Approval Index rating since early March of last year, shortly after he first took office,” Rasmussen stated.

One day earlier, Rasmussen tweeted about the suspiciously high level of Black voter support for the president.

Rasmussen raised eyebrows in August when its polling first suggested that there was an increase of Black voter support for Trump. The Washington Post called that claim “far-fetched,” given the president’s long history of racial insensitivity. The newspaper pointed out that Gallup surveys have consistently polled African-American approval of Trump at around 10 percent through 2018.

This new poll comes as Trump tries to rally his base and help the GOP scrape together as many Black votes as possible to hold on to Congress. At rallies, Trump has been trying to convince people that he’s accomplished great things for African-Americans in his two years in office.

Among his claims is that Black median income has reached a high point under his administration. That’s not true, according to the Associated Press.

Census Bureau data shows that the median income in 2017 for an African-American household was $40,258. That’s below a 2000 peak of $42,348 and also statistically no better than 2016, which was President Barack Obama’s last year in office, the AP said.

It’s no surprise that Rasmussen appears to help Trump promote the myth of Black support, given its connection with the GOP. To achieve its ends, Rasmussen Reports uses research techniques that make its polls favor Republicans, Ipsos Public Affairs research director Mallory Newall told The Hill.

Butler's opinion on polls, I'm surprised he didn't mention it already in this thread! Clearly this is a faked poll. :apathy:

I'm going to make the assumption the polling company is going to massage it's numbers and questions and demographics to get a plausibly deniable set of numbers that will make (who are paying for it) happy.

Did I say faked? It isn't any different then the usual Rasmussen polls leaning for the Gop. I think the possible reported top and bottom numbers are a bit off. And with a 4% margin of error (as they disclose) I think it's alot closer.

Add in the gerrymandered districts, general demographics, and these numbers are probably before the swearing in and continued coverage. As well the Trump supporters have less tendency to answer polls.

Finally it's still 4 weeks away. That's a lifetime in politics.

And I also stand by my statement. Polling companies can and will use techniques to massage numbers for their clients. Especially ones for public consumption.

The way you have to approach is like this:

Rasmussen usually overpolls by about 10 points or so
The NBC/Ipsos polls are usually lower by about 10 ponts also.

So, when taking an approximate medium you wind up with about 10 to 15 to percent of the black vote or so, which means Trump is a shoe-in to get reelected in 2020

Man wearing 'KKK' shirt thrown out of Trump rally
A man wearing a shirt saying "KKK endorses Trump" was thrown out of a rally for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in Oklahoma City, Okla."In the good old days they would rip him out of that seat so fast, but today everybody is so politically correct, our country is going to hell with being so politically correct," Trump said.
