Thursday:

When Sen. Lindsey Graham's time came to ask questions of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh on Thursday, Republicans were on the verge of outright panic.
Christine Blasey Ford, the woman accusing Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her when they were both teenagers, had delivered a stirring account of that night in 1982. She had come across as credible and sympathetic -- a woman who had clearly been traumatized and who had zero doubt that Kavanaugh was responsible for it.

Rachel Mitchell, the independent prosecutor brought in by Senate Republicans to question Ford and Kavanaugh, had failed to poke any significant holes in the accuser's story and seemed to have flummoxed the judge with queries about how many beers he believed to be too many beers to drink.

Exit Rachel Mitchell stage left, enter Mr. Hyde, aka Lindsey Graham stage right.

In a veins a-bulging, eyes a-popping, fist-faced performance rant worthy of former Mr. Hydes, Jack Palance and Spencer Tracy, veteran political/lawyer stage actor Whimsy Graham railed and raged "never in my lifetime"; "this is the most despicable"; "when I'm the head of the head of this committee"; "rant, rant rant" about the delaying tactics and subterfuge of the other party on this committee and their insistence of a pause in the hearing so that a FBI investigation could be conducted.

Rallying the party, the base, come hell or high water this nomination is going to be pushed through and now, Mr. Hyde menacingly bellowed!!!

Fri:

The party, the base now newly energized by Mr. Hyde, the Republican Committee members had the 11 votes to ram the Kavanaugh nomination thru the committee stage. No more delays, no fuckin pause for an FBI investigation. They were ready to vote!!

Enter Republican Senator Jeff Flake stage right. Having just stated that he will vote to advance the Kavanaugh nomination to the full Senate floor he was confronted by 2 women in an elevator where it appeared that he was clearly uncomfortable with the confrontation and seemingly conflicted with his decision.

Later at the hearings he strode over to Chris Coons and they along with other members from the other side went into a closed room and had discussions. Upon exiting Jeff Flake stated his desire and obviously the desire of some Republican Senators, namely Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski to pause the full Senate vote to enable a 1 week FBI investigation.

Exit Jeff Flake stage left, enter the stage right Mr. Hyde aka Lindsey Graham.

Mr. Hyde then right before our very eyes, suddenly and inexplicably transformed into the kindly, rational and sane Dr. Graham. This now kind soul who just the other day railed like a deranged Mr. Hyde that there will be no more delays, no fuckin FBI investigation told the entire world that he now will advocate for a delay, for an FBI investigation. So much so, with so much conviction that he will personally lead the charge for delay and investigation with Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump.

Exit stage left, kindly Dr. Graham.

The strange case of Dr. Graham and Mr. Hyde is really not so strange. Those that wildly and hypocritically cheered Mr. Hyde theatrics yesterday are the same ones who now will hypocritically cheer Dr. Graham's theatrics today.

The one constant in the strange case of Dr. Graham and Mr. Hyde and his fan club is this ...... hypocrisy.
