Here is an example of how clueless Trump is and how badly he is being advised. Trump tweeted, in response to Ford's decision to NOT import the Ford Focus Active (because of tariffs) that Ford should simply build the Active in the US.
"Ford’s North America product communications manager, Mike Levine, spelled it out for the president in a tweet noting “it would not be profitable to build the Focus Active in the U.S. given an expected annual sales volume of fewer than 50,000 units and its competitive segment.” Note: Ford sells more of these in China than anywhere else. They were hoping on importing into North America but the tariffs would make this unrealistic.
Where is Trump getting his advice on auto trade? From Ross? Navarro? Is Kudlow too drunk or high these days to do anything except slur an interview? Trump seems intent on forcing the Big 3 towards another Govt bailout because of his inability to understand Global supply changes (and especially NAFTA supply chains). This is relevant to Canada because the clueless Trump seems to think that the threat of tariffs to Canada is of zero risk to the US.
