The op-ed has been attacked by Trump and his inner circle as being cowardly and aides and advisors have been publicly denying they wrote it.
The funniest part of all this is there isn't a person out there who disputes the content of the letter or its description of Trump. People have denied writing it. Most critics just think the author should have identified himself. But the contents were bang-on re: Trump. Even Republicans are publicly stating regret that the letter expressed nothing that wasn't known before and that it will now be harder to reign in the President. In other words, the letter is 100% true. Even Melania didn't dispute anything said about her husband - she said: “To the writer of the op-ed — you are not protecting this country; you are sabotaging it with your cowardly actions”. This could be read that she fears the resistance's cover has been blown.
This is the leakiest Whitehouse in history. So how about this speculation: The Op Ed was written by eg: Stephen Miller to expose what everybody knew and to give his boss another perfect excuse to ignore advisors who WERE trying to reign him in (except for the handful of kooks he trusts) going forward? Maybe Trump even knew that Miller (or somebody else - KellyAnn) was going to write it and was advised of the strategy. After all, what better excuse to bunker down ("bunker" used intentionally) and toss out good advice (which the moronic Trump views as annoying)?
